DTW crew hotels/rates?

DTW is one of the best bases for cheap hotels. I know a lot of guys stay at the Clarion. When I was based there, I stayed at the America's Best Value Inn. Clean, renovated rooms with a fridge, great van service and $43 out the door.

DTW:
Clarion is comfortable but I think I got bitten by bed bugs there.
Some guys stay at the Howard Johnson and I believe it may be is cheapest.
I usually stay at America's Best Value Inn. ~$42 out the door and your 10th night is free. Shuttle is quick, fridge and microwave in every room. Linens and towels were probably nice in the 60's but the rooms are clean enough. Some smell like smoke but for $42 its kinda expected. There is a strip mall that shares the same lot with the hotel that has a Pizza Shop, Liquor Store, Merimann Bar and Grill (open late for food and drink), Beirut (awesome Mediterranean food), a Chinese place that looks a little sketchy, and a Subway. The convenience of having all this stuff next door makes it worth the extra couple bucks. There is also a bar and grill attached to the hotel that is ok.
The prices here aren't current but it gives you a ballpark estimate: https://www.mycrewguide.com/commuters.php?disp=15

Last two times I used the Clarion the air conditioners/heaters had big issues. Last time didn't want to switch rooms as it was the middle of the night by the time I realized it wasn't working and manager flat out refused to give me a refund. Both the manager and the GM I spoke to were rude, curt, and unhelpful. They basically told me they had the best place in town and I would be back. Never again.

Didn't use to be that way for years until they did the remodel.

My last room there had heat that just kept running, getting hotter and hotter until it was unbearable. It would never stop getting hotter no matter what temp you set the control at. The clarion is a dirty junk hotel run by *******. I will never do business with them again.
