I guess now we know

It's been tomorrow for over an hour, so maybe the only question now is how long until we're released?

On a more practical note...

Can you claim comfy walking shoes for the picket line on your taxes as a work expense, since technically those shoes were bought in order to NOT work?

Interesting how the facebook post was sent before the emails to the members, but anyhow...

At 1230 on Saturday morning negotiations broke off without a deal. The Negotiating Committee will provide a full Crew Brief over the weekend. We ask that everyone please remain professional and think of our Spirit ALPA families affected by Hurricane Irma.
The strike authorization vote passed with 100% of the pilots voting to agree to allow the MEC to call for a strike when and if legally allowed.

Did you seriously think we would get a TA without a strike? Do you know nothing about the history of this place?

Oh what a surprise! I am really shocked. This is totally unexpected. Who could have seen this coming?

Check out stock volume Tues closing / Wed opening, and then again Thurs closing / Friday opening. At least one fairly sizable investor was trying to make something happen.

I wonder who sold short on Friday when it became clear that negotiations weren't going to actually wrap up on Friday.

And... 100% of what percent of eligible voting members?

100% of people who could vote YES did, is your brain broken? The real story is we didn't get a damn deal. A strike vote is great and all but it means nothing. Congrats we have "unity" but the last time I checked that doesn't pay my bills and it seems like it won't for years to come. Spirit management would rather burn this place to the ground before paying fair wages and they will be the ultimate downfall of this company because of their insane greed.

I'm also wondering what % of those eligible did actually vote. All we know is 100% of those who did vote, voted in favor. I'm also interested to see what the update is when it comes out, since they were apparently negotiating into the night (all 3 days?) This time around.
Really all we can do as pilots at this point is wait and see what the story is... Same as always... I'm guessing we may not hear much until the dust settles in regard to Irma and the major disruptions that will come because of it, so nobody comes on here and says something that will be quoted to a judge in the near future.
Probably the worst thing that can happen at this point is people spouting off and creating websites when from the looks of things the choices going forward may include being "put on ice".
We spoke with a unified voice, let's not blow our wad getting worked up over things we can only speculate over at this point.

We have known it all along. We work for a company that doesn't value us. Updating my apps today, I'm sure I'm not alone.

This was the last straw for me...I have a class date elsewhere and I really did wanna stay for seniority & QOL...they didn't even leave me the option

When we do sign a contract, I want new management to take the reigns. I've lost all faith in these people. They have no clue how to run an airline. We all see evidence of this every day. They can't even properly get a hotel room booked on a reserve assignment. Last time I helped out it took 3 phone calls and 4 faxes to get the hotel the proper paperwork... all at 2am. A mentally challenged 8 year old foreigner can figure that out. They actually believe this GoJet flow is going to fix their staffing problems, which is laughable. News Flash: nobody wants to go to GoJet OR Spirit! They think they can say "we are going to soften our edges and start treating our customers with respect, but then treat their employees terribly- like pay their pilots 50% less than their peers, fire the gate agents and contract them out. Now I don't have a masters in airline management, but that seems like a bad recipe...
