While we remain iced on our outdated Contract
United mgmt & ALPA have agreed to early openers.
I really hope ALL OF YOU are attempting to leave this pathetic airline. So United A-320 CAs will soon make 2.5-3x what we do and the NMB/Mediator thinks we are being unreasonable. Ain't that something. I pray for the day Spirt Managements greed bites them in the ass when people start leaving this dump at a much faster rate. |
You should get paid higher than the other Majors because they all will be voting in higher pay in the next few years. If you vote in something similar now you will be behind a contract cycle.

Yeah well we cant do much when the Mediator decides to side with our greedy, incompetent management. (A mgmt who would rather this place just fade away into the history books than just negotiate in good faith)
Vote with your feet people. Even with 'labor-friendly' democratic administrations, labor is always at a distinct disadvantage going up against the RLA. Having been down this path before, I found the strongest union could not compete with big money and big government. Not to say unions haven't played a major role in our success over the decades, but market forces cannot be overlooked, especially now. The pilot supply/demand curve continues to shift in our favor, possibly more so when the fallout from this latest military retiree announcement hits the majors. It's yet another billboard announcing, better yet, accelerating the inevitable cliff. It's voluntary as of now so no telling how many of the 1000 will go back, but I suspect the DOD will sweeten the pot until they do and force mandatory recall if they don't. Questions the panicking Legacy/Major HR heads are asking: What is our exposure? How many are ours? How many more will be taken? Should we hire more civilian guys because of this? The majors have already begun to hoard the dwindling numbers of pilots in anticipation of the shortage; nitrous oxide has just been introduced to the legacy hiring engine. Everyone's in full expansion mode and hiring at full capacity. Spirit doesn't deserve the pilots it has and will soon begin to lose them to airlines that do; airlines that understand the market forces and are aggressively recruiting and rewarding pilot contributions with more than lip service. Best case, airlines like Spirit and Frontier will become regional-style revolving door training opportunities. Like Republic, they will be forced to downsize and discontinue service to accommodate training shortfalls. Somewhere between now and then they will wake up to their new reality. Hang in there guys, and keep your apps updated. Things are going to get interesting. |
And now for November we have 14.5 hour "4" days all over the place. It seems like they think pushing back even harder is the best course right now.

DTW has 28hr four days! 22:30 is very common if you look at the lines. No worries we still have guys crediting 150+ hours a month making sure everything gets covered!! Best part is they have on the green lanyards!!!

Not sure if the trips have changed or if I'm only just now noticing it but there seem to be a lot more DFW trips with redeyes built into them next month. Thankfully my seniorosity allows me to avoid them (which I do at all costs) but I'm hoping it's not a sign of things to come.
