If the buddy doesn't get on and checked a bag does the bag still fly? If not do they send it back to baggage claim or roll it to the next flight?

That may be station dependent; my brother and his wife were booked on an oversold flight and the agents at the check-in counter let them know the bags would be held til they were cleared. It seemed highly unlikely that they would get on when they checked in though. That was out of Vegas.

The serious question is do people actually use these things? Yes the standby list may be short and they may even get on an oversold flight but for every one of those there is another flight where zero standbys get on. Any guess what the next flight is in 12 hrs or maybe tomorrow or three days from now.

The revenue tickets are so cheap why bother? Pack in backpack or even pay for a checked bag when you buy the ticket and it’s still insanely cheap. Friends don’t let friends fly buddy passes. Tell your cheap ass friends to buy a ticket and enjoy the Jetblue er... Spirit experience.

You’re absolutely right. My brother’s situation was extremely last minute and the difference in cost was the $15 gamble or approx. $400 for a guaranteed seat (with checked bags)...on the same day with other carriers. Tickets were sold out with spirit as well. Amazingly they got on. They pretty much broke all the rules of non-rev.

There’s almost always a lot of no shows. Not 100% of the time but I’d put it in the 70% of the time range. I’ve seen it oversold by 12 and left with 6 empty seats. If you have time to play with, it’s worth trying. If you have to be there, just buy the cheap ticket

Thought of just burying this in here....
B6 A320 guy trying to get to work tomorrow. DFW-LGA on 718 at 806am on the 6th. Can anybody PM me and see how it looks for an off Liner? Otherwise have to FEDEX myself tonight for a 330p show tomorrow.

Oversold by 2, 1 jumpseater listed (maybe you?). Its a 319 so there should be 2 jumpseats anyway.

Good Luck.
