Very Selective Screening Process?

I started pursuing greener pastures about a year and a half ago. Not incredibly interested in the legacy carriers. Would like to go somewhere a little smaller with some growth. Started looking into Spirit and filled out the online app. After the app was completed I received an email with a link to a talent assessment. Unfortunately this link did not work so I reached out to the organization that created it but received no response. After about a week I got another email telling me to finish the talent assessment but the link was still not working. Sent another email to a different group of folks that handle the app process. Another email came with a good link followed by a Thanks but no Thanks.

Out of all the apps I have in, this is my first of those messages. I know I meet the mins by far. So it's not that. I failed my instrument oral about 15 years ago. Is that a major deal breaker?

Someone mentioned that since I live in ATL and I'm in my mid 30's they might be worried about me using the type and going straight to Delta. Which is not my intention. Wondering how to get this message across to them, that I'm not that guy.

Anyone else had this problem?

Don’t take it personal, the hiring process is just as disfunctional as the rest of the operation. That failure is a non issue assuming you didn’t shoot the examiner.

don't sweat it.
Type ratings mean diddly these days. Delta has 7? 9 fleet types? You'd just as easily get the 73, 71, or the 80, shoot you might get 75-6. Keep up dating and filing out apps. the best airline out there is the one that hires you.

goodluck

Why are you not interested in the legacy carriers? You do realize that you missed the growth cycle at Spirit right? We are on the back third of our planned growth. You will stagnant for a long long time here. The legacies have thousands of retirements, you don’t need growth.

Also you’re saying you would commute to Spirit over living in base at Delta given the opportunity? I think your post doesn’t pass the sniff test or you need your head examined

to find out if you are qualified do this- find a mirror or mirror covered object. place the mirrored object close to your face. does the mirror show any sign of fogging up? if yes, you are qualified.

Indeed. If anything a failure should make you more attractive to Spirit.

I lived in ATL for 15 years and would go back in a heartbeat but I have absolutely no interest in ever becoming a Deltoid. I might be in the minority and wouldn't argue against the need for a head examination (I did come to Spirit voluntarily after all) but an aversion to/antipathy towards the Widget shouldn't be an automatic red flag.

Honestly, we're looking for people who can't leave NK for something better.

At first it may seem crazy yes. A.) even if I were to take a gig at the big D, I'd be commuting for some time. ATL isn't available right off the bat. B.) If you get ATL, it's on the mad dog or 717 where you are basically doing very short hops all day long. No biggie, just not what I'm looking for. C.). Trust me, the big D isn't for everyone. There's a big difference in culture within these companies. Not sure I could conform. D.) Delta only hires what they see as the elite of the elite. Even if you were of the elite, if you don't look like it on paper, you aren't their type of material. Gotta do a lot of embellishing and over compensating to get their attention. Again, not for me.

I'd like to make the next step of my career, the last. It needs to happen in the next few months. So long as the upgrade isn't another 10 years, I'm game for what ever. Lasted 10 years as a regional FO before my CA number was pulled. I'm sure I could do 5-6 at a major.

I totally get your point though. It's all relative these days. We've all got our own little plans in our mind.

So you're saying they're looking for guys that don't meet the mins ;-)

I kid, I kid. The by far thing was a bit mis leading. My TPIC time is nothing to brag about. Pretty low. But it's there. Assumed it would help push me over the required mins.

we have been hiring less and less qualified pilots and our training failure rate proves it
