So do you share that same rational for the loss of transition? Are you ****ed that the guys who regularly bid transition conflicts ruined that for everyone? You do know that you can tell the company that we’re not giving up reserve rules or any other QOL provisions for substandard pay by voting no.

"Everyone knows" that transition conflicts made it into the 2010 contract by mistake and wouldn't last into the next one. It was a gross error by the company and everyone knew that, except for the handful that used it so much that they began to rely on it and consider it to be a natural born right.

I laughed out loud the first time I heard/read about the old transition conflict rules when I was job searching prior to coming to Spirit. Seemed funny as heck that something like that could sneak into a contract. Trading it away for an updated payscale was inevitable, so nobody "ruined transition". It was doomed the day the company realized what they'd signed.

I was merely making the point that it’s disingenuous calling the guys who work the reserve system to their advantage “turds”, yet not having the same dismay for the guys that work transition conflicts.

Either both transition and reserve drops are gone (if this TA passes) as both were taken advantage of at a big expense to the company or both are going away to put us in line with the industry standard (if the NC is to be believed).

But people like Tool can’t just slam the peeps that made strategic reserve drops without mentioning people who made strategic transition conflicts or peeps that prob called in sick one too many times on account of a sick parent, etc.

If you turn pilots against pilots, they win.

Outside looking in.... Why is it always described as taking advantage or abusing the contract when you use the contract to maximize your pay/QOL? The company is going to try everything to skirt the contract and abuse the pilots.

One could say; this aspect of the contract was going away regardless, while the other was used to the point in which the company viewed it as an issue to their inability to use a reserve pilot. They were both contractually compliant, however, one was perceived by many as a sacrificial lamb for a new contract, while the other was sacrificed due to the company’s argument to the NMB, and the union had no rebuttal.....

Because in addition to people just working the contract to our advantage, spirit's reserve rules permitted things like a strange technique of checkerboarding reserve assignments by swapping half your schedule with another reserve pilot, basically sitting reserve every other day of the month. That effectively takes both pilots off the schedule completely for the whole month, with pay. That sort of thing doesn't help anyone and it was used by the company during mediation to justify eliminating nearly ALL reserve scheduling flexibility in the new contract, showing that it actually hurt the pilot group as a whole.

Yes it was simply "using" the contract as written, but there are an awful lot of perfectly legal things that are destructive enough to just not be done. And if they ARE done, it's used against the pilot group. I dunno how other people feel but I'm big-picture enough to resist the urge to do that sort of thing that gets me basically a month paid vacation at the expense of crapping on everyone when the next contract is negotiated.

Some pilots do selfish things that hurt everyone else, and then get all self-righteous when they're called out on it. The company doesn't have to do anything to make that happen, when a select group of people cause contract concessions through anti-social behavior.

Sure, checkerboarding is poetic justice considering the schenanigans the company has pulled with getting a new contract done. But it really is destructive. Anyone who thought that there would be no consequences for doing that just because the contract permitted it was pretty short-sighted IMHO.

The way that you phrased this is suspect to say the least. We do not have to “swap” with another pilot to “checkerboard.” Flensr is not one of us... and if he is he’s a total moron. Your pilot faking game is weak bro... try again.

Exactly. He would know that reserves swapping between each other was an impossibility because of the inability of reserves to pick up or trade over GDOs. This only changed via arbitration that was won less than 2 weeks ago.

This idiot’s (Flensr’s) first post was less than a year ago and he exclusively comments on the NK forums. You paid management *****s are so easy to spot it’s pathetic.
