Do not take a family to live anywhere between Jupiter and Florida City.

I live in a nice neighborhood, on the water, 10 minutes drive from KFLL, no fixed bridges to the ocean and excellent hurricane hole.
This is a pilot ghetto, we are bunch of guys on the canals here and we get together frequently, usually we pick up dudes on a boat, with a 6-pack of beer and have a blast cruising around, getting away from wife’s and *****ing about work.
On Every street and canal we are 3-4 pilots, and we all think alike.
Prices starting at $500k on the water in this ‘hood, called the Citrus Iles, ever street has a fruit name.
I am on Guava Isle, FL 33315.
SWA guys, UAL guys, Spirit, JetBlue, Corporate, all good.
Was interested in this area as well, I'll be moving to Lauderdale in the Fall. I'm more familiar with Stuart and Martin County. Just curious, how long does it take for you to get out of the river and do some decent boating? and where are decent day trips to take your boat out?

The River is decent boating and you never get tired of it.
I have 2 boats: A 17’ Cobia skiff for river and canal cruising, and a 28’
Albin for the Keys and the Bahamas.
From my house it takes :45 to the ocean, or :35 to the ICW.
Decent day trips can be anything around here, too many choices.
Lots of bars and restaurants with free dockage.
Take the boat out for lunch or for dinner. Or both.
Biscayne Bay is good with unlimited free anchorages and plenty to do.
Bahamas is 4 hours away in a powerboat and 10 hours in a sailboat.
Love it over there. Clean, clear water and great seafood and rum.
SE Florida is a dream for boaters, a Waterfront home makes it that much better.

Thanks for the insight, just worried I won’t be able to afford the boat once I buy the waterfront. I believe we call that a catch 22 😉

You can always rent:
I got a 2/2 condo with a 65 feet dock for rent.
Gated community, club house and pool.
Impact windows and doors.
$2k per month. Long term.
10 minutes from FLL.
Rio Nuevo Condominiums.

Probably can’t afford to be on the water, and no immediate plans for a boat. But would love to be able to ride bikes from my house to waterfront parks and restaurants/bars.

I would really appreciate everyone's advice/input on the following issues, or any other suggestions about where to live....

Do home prices generally decrease as you go further north of FLL?

How is the commute on I-95? Is it super-congested?

Google Maps says about 1:15 driving time from Jupiter to FLL airport....is that reasonably accurate?

Are the schools better/worse in any particular area? My two kids are 11 and 13.

Any other issues I should be concerned about?
I lived in West Palm beach from 2014 to 2017 and loved it... also a lot cheaper than FLL

That is great if you were based in PBI.
If not, how was the rush-hour drive to FLL or MIA?

I was in Deerfield Beach until a few years ago...90% of the trips when I lived there started before or after rush hour, a handful finished during rush hour (which was always fun but doable). The 10% were a pain, but knowing that I planned to leave the house about 1:00 to 1:30 (normally I left about :45) before show time. Only once in 5 years did I have a problem, and 95 was closed due to an accident and I didn’t move for about 3 hours, scheduling was good and I called them, per their request, every :30 to update them. Multiple crew members were stuck, nothing anyone could do.
