Considering a career at Spirit

With this new contract, very few will actually leave. Pilots are happy here.

Most narrow body captains are in the upper 2’s or low 3’s pretty much flying their line. We aren’t close to that without the signing bonus included. Toss in profit sharing and higher DC and we start to fall pretty far behind

While I'm sure some are happy. All the new contract did for me was make it harder to leave, anyone late 40's into their 50's is going to have a lot harder time leaving now (if they are CA) with the new contract rates it will take longer to catch up if I switch airlines now. Plus with PBS on the horizon and lack of upgrades my QOL is getting ready to tank. I am not unhappy here, but I don't know that I'd go far enough to say I'm happy.

Average monthly hours?
Howdy all,
I just read this whole thread as I am considering a career at Spirit. I have a few questions about working here.
1. The new pay looks good after the first year, but what kind of pay can one realistically expect as an FO on reserve? I know that 72 hours is the guarantee, but what is the typical monthly average for a reserve vs. a line-holder?
2. How easy is it to pick up extra flying? I understand that you can volunteer for extra flying at 200%, but how easy is it to get that? How much extra flying can one actually count on if they are so inclined?
3. Any news on new aircraft orders or new city pairs, or growth outlook in general?
Thanks!

A lot of rumors about ac orders, but they are just that....rumors. Nothing has been said by management other than they are exploring all their options. A lot of growth, and expansion. I think we still have about 50ish planes coming thru 2021.....after that, nothing has been set in stone.

Plan on nothing but guarantee for the year. In addition, you make 1750 for the first three months and no health insurance. You can use cobra from your previous company if you have to. I listed for the X list pickup (200%) for the entire year and got called twice. Both times I couldn't do it.

trips as a line holder, but they are at straight pay. There honestly hasn’t been much to pick up. Open time has been dry. A big drop in 200% calls since this contract passed too. I list my self each month, and I’ve only been called an average of once every 2 months. Plan on $1750 a month your first 90 days, 72 hours of credit for your first year or two has an FO. 80-85 hours after that until you upgrade. And then possibly a decade or more of 72 hours again as a junior captain.
Airplane order will be announced this summer per the investor call.
