We already have the rig. I know what you’re saying but the rig and calendar day average as opposed to duty period average would eliminate sub 15hr 3 days and sub 20hr 4 days. I understand a 15hr 4 day might be commutable both ends but an uncommutable 15hr 3 day on one end and a 15hr commutable 4 day is the same thing to a commuter. The guy that doesn’t commute though a 15hr 4 day and a 10hr 3 day is unacceptable.
The American pilots had a slowdown over calendar day. If duty period is better why did they go to such lengths? The Jetblue pilots had calendar day as a must have in their new contract because duty period was so bad. Us and frontier are the only groups with duty period and not calendar day. We have the 24hr overnight credit but that’s going to hit even less than the 22hr one does now.
Everyone except frontier has 3.5:1 trip rig or better except frontier.
Calendar day and 3.5:1 would be better except on the few trips that have 24hr overnights.
Low credit trips just create more work days to reach the credit window.
And while we’re at it how about Block or Better LEG BY LEG. Industry bottom. Even regionals pay that way, yet we don’t.
Can’t wait for my 2018 profit sharing check to come in.

Delta has 515 per day and they still have 3 day, 2-leg red-eye pairings. Sometimes, there's no other way to build a pairing. Their pilots get to commute and keep their self respect :-)

A 3:1 rig would most likely be better than calendar day. I’ll agree with that. If we could get that it would be industry leading as far as I know. But 3.5:1 and calendar is industry standard and better than 3.5:1 and duty period which is what we got.
And I’m sorry but a 4 day that starts at 22:00 and releases at 10:00 is still a 4day. I don’t call it a two and a half day because it has less TAFB. It still has three nights away from home and probably had one of those nights flying a red eye which is completely unpalatable. In that case a 3:1 rig would pay the exact same as calendar day. Other normal pairings that already have the same number of duty periods as calendar days would be paid much higher with a 3:1. So how do we get it? It’s industry leading. I’d wager that the industry standard 3.5:1 with calendar day would be easier but I’m all for shooting for the moon.
As for profit sharing, I don’t care what you call it or even if you have to pay the FAs too. That’s not our problem. Even if they got the exact same percentage as us the actual dollars is much smaller even though there are more of them than us. Delta pays FAs profit sharing, just much less dollars than the pilots

Average calendar day is so much better than just a 3.5:1 rig. At AA we had 3.5:1 and average duty period. The trips got so much better with average calendar day.
Granted the pairing length variety will change but it’s necessary to get paid for every day you’re gone.

I got an email from SF on May 8th and did a phone interview 2 days later. So within one week of applying everything happened quick.
I head down to FLL later this month for the interview. Not sure their rhyme or reason in picking applicants, but it sure didnt seem like i was in some huge stack. I do have a buddy there that said he filled out a referral for me. Not sure if that makes a difference or not. Sounds like my hours are pretty similar to some that have been turned away.

Had part 121 FO flying at Mesaba airlines and have since been flying a Lear45 part 91 for the past 8 years.
SF also told me that they expect hiring to pickup BIG time by the fall 2019 and there would be at least 300 behind me in the first year if hired.

Not trying to brag by any means, but I just put my application in online and did their assessment they emailed me all on May 4th.

From what I hear, if your times are competitive, a submitted referral is basically getting you to the next step. It’s the easiest way to have them screen applicants, the referral matched with a submitted app.
It’s why I believe we were asked to make sure the applicant had an application on file prior to submitting a referral

My times were similar to yours, a little shy, 3400TT and 1100TPIC and got the interview. She said they usually prefer to hire those with internal recommendations and kept asking if I knew anyone at Spirit.

Glad Spirit actually takes their pilots recommendations seriously.
I think Spirit will be the better place to be with all of the growth happening.

I applied at Delta with all of the same things last year that i have now, and had 6 internal recommendations from friends. They told me I wasn’t competitive. I know they use a scoring system for apps too.
