We are talking Middle East carrier that dumped the 800 for the MAX. Left the 50 sitting out there and readily available for Spirit to swoop in and grab a good deal.

Btw, SWA is very hot to trot to pick up used -800s so if there’s 50 of them sitting idle I’m sure they would have made a play for them as well....fwiw.

https://airlinerwatch.com/spirit-airlines-to-buy-regional-jets-to-fill-the-gap-in-barely-served-routes/ I suppose it could be a smoke screen or a fake out, but a lot of smaller, midsized markets are underserved. Would 737-800s be used in those midsized markets? The only Middle Eastern carrier that I know of that operates a sizable 737NG fleet is Flydubai and it has just started to receive new MAX replacements within the last 3-4 months. Not sure if they have 50 idle NG airframes but I could be wrong. Yes, I am also very curious and looking forward to hearing the conference call and the “impending” order information as well... |
Clock is ticking down...place you’re bets! I. Going 3:1 odds in favor of Boeing. What do you think the over under is gonning to be😂
