New Information

Spirit is on the cusp of a 150 plus 737-800 order. They are going to get this deal because of delays with Airbus and by playing the C series off Boeing to land this deal. Boeing may not let on but they really need this order. They are stretched out for a while but have had some cancellations from overseas carriers which is opening up the first 50 of the 73's going to Spirit.

Expect them to start arriving on property in the second quarter of 2019. Quarterly earnings call is on 4/26. Expect this announcement one or two days before the call.

Compared to the 6000+ and growing list of Airbus narrowbodies, yeah, they really do.

Your stealing my job...I’m the one that spreads dumb rumors, not you...

But speaking of dumb rumors this one takes the cake. Why the heck would Spirit operate an airline with two different fleet types that are of the same capacity....

An 800 isn’t a Max. Boeing may have remaining 800 slots they’re trying to get rid of. It’s all fantasy until the first one shows up in sharpie yellow, but not out of the realm of possibility.

Yea and boeing is going to have all of those orders filled by the end of this year so they better get on it! smh

I know that fool, I was speaking to the section of him saying "boeing really needs this" which is as stupid as a statement gets. Go re-read and then they again.

Boeing may not need to sell MAX’s, but they may have other production slots they need to shed themselves of before going all Max, fool.

We already own the 73-800's, We have them parked unground at Area 51. It's our new hub for the west coast. Once the contract is done our crack management team will unveil the new master plan for a stealth hub! KA51 is the airport code! :D

We are talking Middle East carrier that dumped the 800 for the MAX. Left the 50 sitting out there and readily available for Spirit to swoop in and grab a good deal.

True or not, we do need an AC really really soon!

Which Middle East carrier?

I'm not at liberty to say. However, you can go through each one and come up with a logical answer.

Total BS 04-17-2018 05:23 AM

FYI, on APC "not at liberty to say" is a red flag for BS

Say what you will but the information I have is solid. I'm no longer at Spirit but have contacts and I consider this information very reliable. Notice the article today on Spirit about to put out RFP's for a new aircraft. It's all smoke and mirrors. This is a done deal.

WHACKMASTER 04-17-2018 01:48 PM

Btw, SWA is very hot to trot to pick up used -800s so if there’s 50 of them sitting idle I’m sure they would have made a play for them as well....fwiw.

These wouldn’t be used. Allegedly another carrier decided on MAX’s instead. These would be unclaimed production slots. Allegedly.

How does this jive with the following article regarding Spirit flying to smaller, underserved markets:

https://airlinerwatch.com/spirit-airlines-to-buy-regional-jets-to-fill-the-gap-in-barely-served-routes/

I suppose it could be a smoke screen or a fake out, but a lot of smaller, midsized markets are underserved. Would 737-800s be used in those midsized markets?

The only Middle Eastern carrier that I know of that operates a sizable 737NG fleet is Flydubai and it has just started to receive new MAX replacements within the last 3-4 months. Not sure if they have 50 idle NG airframes but I could be wrong.

Yes, I am also very curious and looking forward to hearing the conference call and the “impending” order information as well...

ropestart 04-24-2018 05:53 AM

Clock is ticking down...place you’re bets! I. Going 3:1 odds in favor of Boeing. What do you think the over under is gonning to be😂

David Puddy 04-24-2018 06:39 AM

Again, when are we likely to hear this news? Before the earnings report this week?

Spirit wants/needs to grow - but with end-of-production-line 737-800s? Really? Makes sense from a negotiating standpoint (Delta ordering playbook). Looking forward to hearing one way or another.

FWIW, I still think the CS300 makes more sense for underserved, midsized markets but I am open to being corrected... Bring on the news!!!

The CS300 is the best airplane for us on paper. However, can 'we forgot to include almost all of the CB reset procedures in the COM' Miramar leadership actually capable of bring another airframe online? I don't know the answer but just updating our fuel policy had more errors in it than the book of Mormon.

ropestart 04-25-2018 06:54 AM

I research a little on orders. According to Boeing’s website order book, they have 103 orders for the 737 to an undisclosed customer. Not sure if that means much, but interesting nonetheless. Also, Airbus has 29 A330’s on the order books for an undisclosed customer as well. The plot thickens!

Any order for us would be welcome no matter the aircraft type.

Goodness. How many folks could we stuff into a 330?

That’s crazy!.....and I can see Spirit filling the thing up.

David Puddy 04-25-2018 11:25 AM

And the announcement is....

Tick tock tick tock. I am hearing crickets.

I guess we’ll have to be patient.

The eagerly awaited announcement among all of us outsiders will, in theory, be tomorrow and discussed in detail during the Q1 Earnings call.

...that is unless we can get the real low down from those few APC participants with inside info
