I know pilots in the past have had it much worse than I, and I greatly respect that, but it’s not going to stop me from trying to make the best life I can for myself. In today’s pilot market, anything is possible. I know a guy that went to UA with 2200 TT and was right seat on the 767 at 24. I’m not expecting similar success, or even to hear back in the same year that I apply to any of the majors including Spirt, I’m just trying to apply at the right time. :) thank you for your insight, though. I am happy for your pilot group and the latest contract you have achieved! I think there was one regional FO in the class, and he didn’t make it through. But that was a lack of effort thing and not a lack of experience thing. I’m sure other classes are filled with guys having less experience. And getting hired at any major with 2-3000 TT is probably still well outside the fat area of the bell curve. |

Currently I'm at: 2200TT 1200 121 SIC 1200 ME Union Volunteer Aviation University 4 year degree Do you even have the minimum of “unrestricted ATP?” Because it seems like you got hired at your carrier with 1000 TT. 500xc 100 night 50 ME 75 instrument 250 PIC in airplanes. To get a restricted ATP you must have all of these except tt and you only need 200XC. Im sure if the applicant currently possesses a restricted ATP he or she could go to the FSDO and get it removed. It does not require anything but paperwork to get a restriction removed once you meet the minimums for an unrestricted |

Maybe my class was an outlier or something, but I would say that everyone had 8-12000 hours TT, 3-4000 hours of Turbine PIC and everyone was a regional CA, 135 chief pilot or fractional check airman.

In my class of 16 there were multiple regional FOs. There were several guys with less than 3000 TT, including myself. I think it's definitely possible, even likely that Spirit will continue hiring people with no Turbine PIC.

Your 2700TT you were hired with isnt even the bare minimums now. But good for you, you jumped in when the lower window was open and didn’t look back. Guys that sat on their hands not sure if “Spirit was right for them” and now can’t get a call, oh well. But the dynamics have definetly changed since you were able to get on |
Ducttape is 100% correct, things have changed. Under the Old contract with all the delays we scraped the barrel to find guys. Let's be honest, the pay sucked. I was told contract within 90 days when I got hired. LIE! The new guys I see in the right seat have 7000+ hours and were RJ Captains for Skywest or Express jet.... Haven't seen low time guys but I'm sure we have them here. Guys can live on $104/hr plus the DC. If you can't make a $100K second year here something is wrong. Plus the QOL and ability to DROP!

Only until pbs kicks in, then if you’re on reserve you’re screwed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

A percent of the days have to remain green under the current contract. Still might be screwed.
Doesn’t matter for us lowly reserves we can only drop one R day a year after pbs...... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
