Ask a Board member if you want to know not a line Pilot.

Talking about the pilot job posting. Not a merger or plane order..... and that’s straight from the recruiters.

I would think that management would not talk about such things until it is announced. As far as planes, I only believe it when I see them at the gate.

Goofy....

Hiring 16 in Jan, planning 300-400 this year. Rumor has it classes are full through April.

Maybe a better statement is we've stopped interviewing? But I'm not sure even that's true as I don't follow the interview process, I just watch the hiring.

We’ve only added 2 total pilots in this system bid. 4 upgrades. March effective. Got a long way to go for 150 CUG and 300 new hires in 2019

Just wait and see what PBS and unstacking brings.

While running a NH class for 2 seems odd the same packet shows 16 NH's just in the first half of January. I love the short sightedness in a 30+ year career. This isn't day trading bro.

Preach.

The sky is falling routine when we’re clearly already fat on pilots, have a new, less staffing intensive scheduling system being installed and are awaiting what is likely an imminent order is hilarious.

They don’t hide the big picture in a hangar in Tulsa. There’s just not an abundance of folks who can see it.

Not surprising we have not hired a lot or upgraded many since the contract passed and we are getting pbs, and I don’t see it picking up any time soon.

I guess a lot of guys forget what we were told PBS implementation would do in the short term. This was all covered in union conference calls regarding a halt on upgrades for some months because of PBS

Yeah we went from solid red to solid green after the contract was passed and that had nothing to do with PBS. Work rule utilization affected the group more than PBS ever will regardless of what the union said.

What base was that at? In DTW, years before the contract there were 4 or 5 red days a month on average. After the contract, 4 or 5 red days a month.

NK Bumble Bee 01-01-2019 09:32 AM

The change to the grid came in 2014 after we won the grievance for them changing the buffer after IOT making every day red. Been in LAS, ORD, and DTW as a CA after that win, and the grid is largely green except weekends and holidays. DTW is mostly green all the time across the board. No significant change noted post-contract.

Must be the CA side. For FO’s it was hard to drop anything for all of 2017 and the beginning of 18.

I didn’t have any trouble dropping nearly anything that wasn’t a big holiday etc. picking things up for the last two months, on the other hand, has been difficult.

When did you start? Were you here through 2017.

How long can new hire expect DTW base?

It’s hard to say since the company is growing MCO. Once the new hire class picks up you should be able to get it during new hire training.

There's a school of thought that says that it doesn't matter... If you're going to commute anyhow, bid ACY and be in the top 25% within a year, able to pick a decent schedule years before people who bid a "good" base.

Something to think about.

GWY320 01-03-2019 01:34 AM

Is spirit still hiring

One year in at ACY will yield an approximate 65-70 percentile spot on the fo list. The movement is not as fast as a few years ago.

Not a lot of movement when not a lot of hiring/upgrading is happening.

ACY crash pads

So, what is the crash pad situation like in ACY? Anything that is relatively descent that may not require a car to be brought across the country?

flyjbh 01-03-2019 12:54 PM

New site is up. Has the fo positions

I think there are a couple options. Most don’t stick around long unless they live nearby.

the grid in acy is so green there is no reason for anyone to actually commute there unless they specifically choose to.

If you’re on reserve you have no choice.

has anyone been in ACY other than by choice for anything other than the relief line post OE?

I haven't seen a single vacancy bid that didn't have newhires still in class get awarded not ACY, which means anyone done with OE can get out of ACY. and you get 1+ free month of relief there, depending when you finish OE.

TrojanCMH 01-05-2019 01:40 PM

I dunno but with the tiny vacancies we’ve seen lately I wouldn’t want to get stuck there.

Just want to verify that there is no medical insurance offered for the first 90 days. Is that correct?
