Flights Benefits
 
What flight benefits do you get? Any Zed fairs? Finally, do you have any option for confirmed tickets like fly confirmed for less? Or booking Zed on Business class on any international carriers?

Hahaha you must have us confused for a real airline. We do have Zeds but not with United, Delta, or American. No business on any carrier (international or domestic) and no option to buy positive space discount tickets (I know United has that option). If you’re coming here for the pass travel benefits.... don’t.

While I agree our benefits are lacking we do have a way to book discount positive space tickets.

Really? That’s my mistake then, I know we have a way to book tickets that waive the bag fees but was unaware of a way to book discount positive space tickets.

You are correct. There is no way to book discount tickets, it's just a regular ticket with bag fees waived.

We actually have quite a few ZED and fare agreements with airlines, especially international. Just no UA, DL, or AA.

No, if I’m lucky enough to get a job with spirit. It would be awesome. Spirit is my choice because of the quality of life and how happy the crews are. Zed would be only the icing on the cake :)

Evidently I am the mistaken one. Thought they were discounted in addition to no bag fee.

Not a real discount but, I buy my tickets at counter, and don't get charge for bags. It's aways cheaper buying it at the counter, most of the time it's 30-40% cheaper.

I asked the union reps why our benefits are so poor and if we would negotiate improvements during the last CBA.
Their answer was that this was not a priority for NK pilots...
Apparently many folks don't fly anywhere internationally.
Spirit has one of the worse flight benefits out there.
No legacies, No international Far East Asian airlines, one African, but many small irrelevant (ex. Air Malta)
My family travels more than I commute and we hope for at least a legacy at some point, before the kids lose the benefit.

If you’re worried about travel benefits then don’t come here, regionals have great travel benefits.

You really believe that if you retire from Spirit you’re going to get some sweet Delta or United benefits for life? You’re delusional.

I think our best hope is maybe get some ZEDs on one of the majors if we continue to grow.

I'd like to think that but we did have United zeds, my wife and I went to Japan using them. I think it was 5? years ago we lost them. I wouldn't hold my breath on getting them back

Speaking of our own flight benefits...let's say I booked a base fair ticket thru the main company website and not thru whatever revenue leisure site we use, would it be feasible to sweet talk the ticket counter or gate agent into letting in with a carry on if u flashed my company ID? Retiree travel on DAL is pretty rough. I recently spent 14 hours split between 3 days at ORD. There was weather involved, still way too much time to think of it as a big bennie. Lord forbid you get trapped in ATL. The joke is you only give your worst enemies a "Friends and Family Pass.":eek:

We have British Airways, QANTAS, Iberia, Air France, Air Canada, Lufthansa, Emirates, Eithiad just to name a few. Where are you wanting to fly to? You might have to make a connection. You must be really doing something wrong if you can’t make it with the agreements that we have.

I still can't fly non stop to Chile, Japan, New Zealand, China, Thailand, South Africa to name a few.

Let me guess you want to fly on Delta international so you can be number 30 on the standby list to maybe have a chance to get bad service from an old hag that doesn’t care anymore because she has been at her job for 30 years. Oh and don’t forget most the time the drinks aren’t free. No I would rather fly a foreign carrier where you get good service and free drinks.

We can't bargain our way into agreements, maybe if we grow enough other airlines will see the benefit of having a Spirit interline agreement.


We are actually fantastic to non-rev on since there are so many no shows, and we don't have that many employees that are eligible since we outsource so much of our labor.

Probably because United sees some benefit. I’m just guessing but Allegiant flies to small podunk towns that no one else flies to, so there is some benefit to having them since they’re usually the only operator going into a lot of these places. Frontier has a big hub in Denver so that benefits United employees that are based there.

JCBA first, the we each propose our integrated seniority list. If the two sides cannot agree an arbitrator decides. The JCBA would be done already to avoid another US air/ America West debacle.
