I'll echo what CMH said. The whole day is completely laid back, but SF and her team know within 30 seconds if she's going to hire you or not. Look sharp, smile, crack a few safe jokes and show them Spirit is where you 100% want to be. Let them know you what attracts you the most about Spirit. Show them how hard you preped for the interview, they'll see it.

Great group of guys and gals flying Airbuses around and living great lives at home. Good luck!

Yesterday the CP out FLL sent out the link to recommend new hires so hopefully the flood gates will open for you guys. This is what Spirit really wants to know about new hires.

BTW $500 and I'll write you a referral! LOL :D

Fellow Spirit Pilots,

As briefed, we are planning on hiring approximately 320 pilots in 2019. If you wish to submit a referral, please send an email to XXXXXXXXX.com with their current resume and cover letter. Additionally, your referral should have completed the online application and have been screened by you, in detail. Some questions to consider asking:

Do you have any Failed check rides, oral or written exams?
Have you ever received a letter of investigation from the FAA or any other office?
Do you have any accidents, incidents or violations on your record?
Are you able to pass a background check?
Is Spirit your final career destination?

We take pride in our growth plans and look forward to continual recruiting and hiring events in the near future. If you have any questions regarding the referral process, please contact XXXXX.com.

Is Spirit offering $$$ for referrals?

What is Spirits position on “background” issues?

What background issues are “disqualifying?”

Lobaeux 05-02-2019 05:07 PM

Congratulations guys! Looking forward to seeing you in training.

Another word of advice....spend a little time learning about Spirit and the business model. Also, be social and participate in the games and conversations. We had about 20 people interview the day I went in, and about 12-13 got offers....most of the people who got the TBNT were the ones who basically just sat around and didn’t make much of an effort to participate in the group stuff.

How would one not pass a background check? Are we talking minor infractions like minor in possession, dui, etc or felon?

Now they just need to add OKC to the route map.

It'll happen and probably pretty soon. Our LAS-DFW flights carry a lot of Okies. Most comment that it's far cheaper to drive to DFW and fly us than to fly on Southwest out of Will Rogers. I'd expect OKC to LAS and MCO as soon as the airframes are available. That would get you to two of our bases real easy.

Captain I flew with yesterday was an OKC boy. A fully okie flight crew... I was excited.

Am I just dreaming or did Spirit use to serve OKC years ago. I FEEL like I remember OKC having a Spirit ticket counter.

If they did, it was over 15-20 years ago. Frontier has been in and out and back in but I don’t think spirit has. I think there’s a great market for them here. Maybe once the terminal expansion is built.

They usually wait until after you move into domicile to announce service into your hometown. Ask me how I know...

I didn’t mean to blow up this thread with multiple posts, my account has been having issues.

While on RSV you can’t pick up trips correct?
So plan on around 50k first year?

Correct.

As far as pay, slightly less as training pay is only 1800 a month, plan on 3 months of that and 9 months of 72 hour guarantee. There’s a possibility to pick up premium trips on off days, but wouldn’t count on that for budgeting.

You declare it all, to make sure there aren’t any surprises in a background check. If they ask, answer it honestly.

We have had pilot fired in IOE because something came back in a background check that he didn’t disclose during the hiring process

Honesty is the best policy thanks!

I take it, you haven’t received anything other than the phone call that you were hired? Did they give you a specific date in July ?

FDUA 05-03-2019 07:43 PM

Yeah just that call with a class date of July/August. A buddy of mine same exact thing. All we were told is to expect to start the process end of May. How about you?

Same. I was a few weeks after you.

Just waiting for the next step.

av8arkie 05-09-2019 02:01 PM

I could use a referral. If anyone would like to do this pm me for my phone number. Thanks in advance. 😁

I received the email 3 or 4 weeks ago for the talent assessment and have not heard back anything. Is no news good news?

Been waiting since March 3rd. I'm interpreting the continued "under review" as a good thing.

Same here. Assessment done about 4 weeks ago. No TBNT email.

Yet no email to set up a phone interview.

I continue to tell myself that no news is good news and relax, the email is coming next week. But...

I'm not trying to come across as "this is a foregone conclusion," but I'd say if we've all made it all this far, and they are needing 56 a month, and FLL CP is basically begging for recommendations, there should be a bit more action on this forum (yes I understand not every Spirit candidate frequents these forums). In other words, we all probably check most of the boxes; let the job be "ours to lose" in the interviews.

Ok, don't mind me, back to the salt mine I go.

Not to bust any bubbles but the FLL Chief is not by any means begging for recommendations-

Good luck to all of you guys/ gals!!!

I agree. I think they just want to narrow it down a little, and it seems we are one of the few airlines where an internal recommendation could help prior to being in front of the interview panel.

Haha. I love this post. Classic “we need them more than they need us, so they have to call”

The Chief Pilot mentioning referrals is to compliment existing applications on file, to help sweeten the chances for a pilot who has applied or will be applying; it’s not as a tool for the company to get a referral, contact that pilot and say “we need pilots, please apply!”

Crazy......right?!! Some people are either very full of themselves, or still view Spirit as a stepping stone that will hire all that simply apply! I really hope HR does a good job weeding these guys out.
