ORD
Sorry if this has been asked before, I used the search function but couldn't find anything.
How senior is ORD? Is it a base that can be awarded out of training? Or at least a few months out of training? Whats the average for a line in ORD? Thanks all. |
I’m sure you can get ORD within 6 months. There is a bunch of turn now that we are hiring again. Not sure an exact time to get to ORD but I would think pretty quick. It is a more senior FO base

5 months from DOH for ORD right now.
|
Growth in ORD will come as we get more gates. That will happen as they finish construction on the new runway and then start on rebuilding terminal 2.

I believe it was part of that big agreement that was signed a while ago with AA, UA, NK, and the Chicago Airport Authority. We are gate constrained in ORD right now if I understand things correctly.
|
and how are the bases awarded? By age? thanks

This is true...apparently we’ll be moving to Terminal 5 with additional gates once the expansion is complete.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Should be a good thing when all’s said and done. I seem to remember us getting 7-8 gates when the move takes place. |

I don’t think the move is going to happen until well after the people mover is back in service. Also I have no doubt that T5 will get KCM by the time the expansion is complete as Delta will be over there as well.

5 has KCM. Sounds like F9 is getting 5-7 gates as well.
Is it new? The KCM website still shows it doesn’t. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

There’s KCM at 5. It closes between 8-9pm depending how motivated the staff is that night
|
Well slap my donkey and call me Rex Kramer you’re right it’s at T5 now; been a while since I’ve been there.

Yes, if you are based there-you will be provided parking. The employee parking area is the H lot

Finally 15 CA vacancies for ORD! Hooray!
|
What are schedules like out of ORD? 1, 2, 3, 4 day trips? Lots of daytime flying? Red eyes? Average line credit? Average days off? What is open time availability typically like, scare or abundant?

Yes, yes, yes, varies, 15 days off per CBA, abundant. Your schedule will be as good as you want it to be. There is enough to make what you want to happen happen.
I’ve been wrong plenty before so it certainly won’t be the first time. |

Going to have to show your work on that one. Have never read that in the CBA under days off in either Hours of Service or line construction in the scheduling section or in the PBS LOA.

For clarification the only pilots getting relief lines are new hires and upgrades released from training that missed the bid deadline. Those lines are required to have 15 days off.
The original question was about average days off. Not sure what the historical average is in ORD or system wide, but there is nothing in our CBA that requires an average of 15 days off. That would be nearly impossible to do in PBS anyway. Min days off could be adjusted upward but currently it’s 13 for line holders and 12/13 for reserves for a 30/31 day month respectively. |

While they do vary by base and from month to month. When bidding, we do have the option to bid for Reduced Lower Limit (RLL) Lines. Now, they are only awarded to bubble bidders - those close to a line, either by seniority or with pre award credit(training, vacation etc...). But once awarded, they are built to a minimum of 15 days off as well. |

And this isnt entirely factual either: "the only pilots getting relief lines are new hires and upgrades"

I think for all intents and purposes, the rule of thumb is to not count on getting one of these unless you’re fresh off initial or upgrade. And certainly don’t hang your hat on it as a “I need 15 days off so I’ll bid RLL” strategy.
My sincere gratitude for using “intents and purposes” correctly. |

Just sayin or not. I could care less. Honestly, at this point arguing with people online is kind of a mute point. Bunch of pre madonnas. |
