Crew room accommodations
 

Just curious what the crew rooms are like at various accommodations. I’m interviewing soon and couldn’t be more excited. By no means is this a deal breaker but I’m at a regional now and the CRs suck. Sticky leather couches,peeling recliners and 24/7 fluorescent light and absolutely no overnights.

I have some friends at legacy carriers and they tell me about really great rooms some with gyms and far / quiet spaces specifically for sleeping and showers and the like (Delta DTW).

Is it possible to RON in a crew room 1-3 times per month if needed while commuting? DTW or ORD are my preferences. I’m commuting from north east wisconsin area.

I think the key word you mentioned was “Legacy” which Spirit is not. On the plus side I think they finally got rid of the bed bugs in the ORD crew room.

Our crew rooms are not overnight rooms. They’re basically a temporary respite from the general public and a place to check in for your trip. You can sleep for a few hours in the quiet rooms, but it’s far from what I’d consider a pleasant experience. No showers or gyms. Really nowhere to even change your clothes.

I’d say our rooms are on par with most regionals. However I can’t tell ya the last time I actually stepped foot in one.

eh not really at my previous regional (xjt) crew rooms were inside of security (what a concept), our crew rooms are outside of security, not very convenient when it comes to rest and relax.
oh well...

Some of our crew rooms are inside of security as well. There's a document called "Crew Room Guide" in your Comply with the locations.

of our 7 bases at least 3 of them are outside security. it's almost like they don't want us to actually use them

First step to better crew rooms is giving the FAs their own and us ours. I don’t see that happening any time soon.

And to the OP: This isn’t a regional. You don’t overnight in the crew room. Pony up for the hotel.

The ORD crew room, we actually have two, the original one inside is awful. Not enough seating, in the summer its extremely hot, and the other guy isn't lying....the quite room had bed bugs in the past. The other one is outside security and may be a better option for crashing in. It doesn't have any quite rooms but it seems like it's always empty.

The DTW crew room is better, since they renovated it, but like all of our crew rooms you'll be fighting flight attendants for a recliner in the quite room. It seems like a good amount of them use the crew room as a crash pad.

I've used them a couple times for RON but they suck. Unless you're getting in after midnight and trying to catch a 5 am flight home, I'd say just get a hotel or crash pad.

Hotels are pricey but DTW has a lot of great commuter hotels. I use to use the Clarion all the time....I think it was $50 out the door and $5 extra for a 5 pm checkout that they would roll into the next night if you ended up staying the night again. Free breakfast too. This hotel made commuting to reserve somewhat doable..
