When I first went through 121 training we had to know both seats. During training we had to do it from a cold dark plane. When the actual check ride came around it was on ground power not first flight of the day. I was just sitting there like uh need me to do anything haha. I’ll go get us the coffees.

That must be a Spirit thing and maybe a couple other airlines. Let the FO’s focus on their tasks and the instructor can easily manipulate the overhead panel and lights or any other Captain duty. I believe all a FO getting a PIC type needs to do is taxi the airplane.
