What is the factual basis for this astonishing pronouncement? If true, that would be fantastic news that should be on every network, something red and blue could be happy about.

Yep, We are all done for. So far tons of cases, FEW deaths. One year from now we are all going to wonder what this was. Sadly, thousand of jobs lost, businesses gone and retirements gone. All because of media hype. In two or three years we are going to go through the same thing. China will never update their living conditions and we will continue to get viruses from China.

Few deaths? Go tell that to Italy. Media Hype? How about you go hang out in NYC over the next two weeks and get back with us. You know many experts are saying this pandemic has the potential to spread to 50% or more of the planet.

Best not take relationship advice from pilots. That said, she sounds like a good woman that cares about her kids and I disagree with the “side piece” guy. I would be more worried about a wife that doesn’t care.

She wants reassurance.

It only takes (normally) 14 days to know, IF you don't get tested. This is one reason why we need WAY more test kits, to rule out people, so they can function normally, especially if they are in critical job functions, like ATC, transportation, etc.

I flew an asian carrier back in Feb. ALL of their staff wore masks. But, we are not as organized as many Asian countries, so we don't have enough masks for all of our cabin crew/employees...

I had to live in the basement for a number of days, due to a combination of factors related to the CVirus. One of which my CEO (the wife) was waiting on a test. She tested negative for the CVirus, and was VERY lucky to be able to get tested...otherwise I would still be not able to go back to work for a week or so.

Surely you know the air exchange rate in the pressurized tube far far exceeds that of your average building. In addition in most aircraft it’s bleed air so it’s been heated to an extreme temperature. I’ll take the positive airflow in an airplane over a building any day.

On another note, kids are don’t seem to get sick and not a single one has died below the age of 14 around the entire world from this. It’s impossible to shelter them 100% from it as it will be circulating for the next few years.

If that doesn’t work you may need to take a unpaid leave of absence and put the house on the market.

Sorry you have to deal with this on top of everything else.
I didn't know this about viruses in general...
"...SARS and MERS – close cousins to the current coronavirus – largely spared children under age 12. Chickenpox typically clears up without major incident in children, yet is more likely to cause serious complications in adults. Even flu, though it does land many children in the hospital, kills a greater number of adults."
