Did you hear this from a flight attendant or ramp agent?

Well, I just got my VIL revoked because of May PT training, so I don't think so. I'm pretty F'in p1$$ed, don't know why I couldn't go grace late. Or do the training included in the 50 hours.

I did hear FA recurrent was CX, from a FA.

Because that was what the MOU said?

did you read the MOU? It was pretty clear if you had training on your schedule, which you did bc you bid it last week, that you couldn’t bid a VIL. This shouldn’t be news sorry.

I’m not trying to be a dick but it was there in black and white

Depends if you had training starting in April that went into May you could bid for it, but if your training was all in May you couldn’t.

And that would’ve been April training technically but yes it was covered in the MOU as well.

Mister 04-07-2020 07:21 PM

All you did was potentially screw somebody else out of a VIL... maybe a poor commuter that won't be able to get to work with all these cancellations 🤷‍♂️

Hopefully when they pulled the people who had training off the VIL list they gave it to the next person who bid. Not sure if they did, but it would be a win win.

Of course I read it. I bid for it not expecting to get it. But when you get awarded and think "cool, I can go grace late," then tell your family you're sacrificing for everyones' health, and they're visibly relieved, only to get the rug pulled out...

So you knew you shouldn't have bid for it, but hoped you would get it anyway. Seriously, as if planning needed more hassles?

You're a selfish clown and are getting what you deserved.

Many of our coworkers are under tremendous amounts of stress, not just from the Rona, but also trying to run the place that puts money in your checking account as well as mine. Yes, my tone is harsh, because he knew he shouldn't have bid it, but how about we try help those trying to save this place instead of making it more difficult for them? This is not an us against them time, this is a we are trying to survive to get through this time.

I'm violating my own rule here about arguing on the internet... But yes, I expected that...

You know what, nevermind. I'm a selfish prick, an idiot, and I should die of Corona.

So just how many spirit pilots irace? Should start a team.

BeechedJet 04-14-2020 10:02 AM

150 pilots all wanting to drive but of course some senior pilot that'll probably call in sick will be awarded the race. I hope our junior reserves been practicing their 1am racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

What are we talking about???

iahflyr 04-27-2020 05:41 PM

I heard from a friend that Spirit is still running new hire classes. Is that true? Did one start today?

if so, will the new hires actually make it though IOE, or be put on a paid leave once finished with training?

We, surprisingly (unlike United), gave a training class to those who were offered one. All else are being put into a pool. They will likely make it through OE as we are not allowed to furlough till 10/1 (CARES Act), though I anticipate a reduction in force shortly there after. How much? Who knows.... But, Who denies knowing, so it’s up to what.

Yes we are still stupidly running new hire classes because management likes to spend money when we are in “survival mode.”

Don't bet on the OE part. January new hires still are waiting to finish OE.

Mister 04-28-2020 05:23 AM

I'll believe that

For those in the pool...any word on when youd see a class, or just "we'll call ya when this is over" type thing? You have to wonder what the outlook will be like for poolies after the CARES act limitations end in Sept..

Clearly, for the whole industry, future prosperity depends on just how soon the public starts flying again. That depends on how quickly COVID tapers off and how much the media stops hyping it, as well as just how much long term damage this quarantine has done to the economy.

FWIW, my personal opinion is that predominantly domestic airlines with single type fleets (NK, F9, SWA (assuming the MAX remains the same type) and Alaska (because they’ll dump their 320s) ) will be less likely to furlough than anyone else and sooner to be calling up people from pools.

The people I believe are truly screwed right now are the junior people from the Big Three who will be displaced into furlough by the more senior widebody overseas pilots whose pax will be the last to return. But the HR departments for the airlines whose flying will return first - like F9 and NK, aren’t going to touch those people for fear they’ll lose them back to their original carriers after training them. They will instead prefer pool dwellers who have no seniority number anywhere else.

That’s my opinion anyway. Yours certainly may vary...

Thats kinda my thoughts on it as well..I would hope that the HR depts wouldnt just keep hiring folks, even if they were thinking layoffs in the fall...but like the old saying "they hire until they furlough" so I guess its kind of a bet.
I do think being in the pool is probably the best place to "ride out" the storm, and get a feel for how things are going to proceed.
