Yep. The omnipresent moderator here basically admitted just that.

Yeah, it's a bummer. There are a ton of pilots across a huge number of operators here, so it's a good resource when you need objective information. It's too bad the owners are unwilling to crack down on the BS.

It looks like everyone in Washington is getting onboard with the idea, Trump, Democrats, and a good number of Republicans.

Experts are being optimistic...if the language is the same as the last one, we will have our jobs for another 6 months-ish...

Not necessarily, they said even with CAREs 2, furloughs will happpen. Whether or not it will mitigate the number of furloughs depends on the stipulations attached to the bill.

It has been touted by ALPA, AFA as a clean extension. So same stipulations as last time, would continue for another 6 months. The entire point of this extension is to ensure jobs through March when, some believe (with multiple vaccines in phase 3) we could be talking about a vaccine or by that time, Major Covid fatigue.

Maybe the language will change, but for now that is where we stand.

this is correct 100%... I personally don’t see it getting through if it completely specifies no furloughs... it will still cause too much bleeding to avoid massive losses, especially at the big 3. The most comforting part of all this is we can hope and pray that we will have minimal furloughs and we will actually see a planned recovery mid 2021

Well, if I understood what they were saying yesterday, the won’t take the CARES money if it stipulates no layoffs or furloughs. Spirit is in survival mode at the moment and they said it’s cheaper to furlough. So unless I misunderstood or something miraculous happens, furloughs are coming

This is Bendos quote -

=12pt“=12ptBendo: Jeff answered correctly, we are in support of CAREs 2.0 with PSP, would be a taker of that money, and if it got here before we furlough, presuming contains same language, we wouldn’t be doing furloughs. If it happens afterwards, we have to look at rules and see how it would would work. The PSP program is to protect jobs, that’s why we’re for it, why Ted has spoken directly to some “very senior” folks in Washington, other airline CEOs have done so as well.”

I think they were saying they would take the money and go with whatever strings were attached to it. They just didn’t want to say they wouldn’t furlough if they got more $$$ as it all depends on the language. What if it says “you can furlough up to 10%” well, they’re going to furlough 10% and take the money.

I’m not sure. Half those would be on first year pay - on reserve - at min guarantee. That’s 4K a month. The other half would be on 2nd year pay - on reserve - at min guarantee. That’s maybe $8K a month. So average savings of $6k a month x 7 months (Oct-May) x250 pilots is about $11 million total. Maybe a little more if you downgrade 125 captains. Now I’ll grant you that’s more money than I’VE got, but it would be less than a week of operations. And by the time you figure the training costs and other monkey motion, probably not a money maker for someplace that has been as fast growing and is as junior as NK or F9.

If you thought it were going to extend past next summer, maybe then?
