They would have been drowning initially. They are now stocked up and have an ample logistics train to support them. And we have several avenues to treat those who are hospitalized, and a lot more experience with fighting this bug. Time to move on.

Yeah, I’m not married to anyone employed by a hospital chain that has pretty good insight into where we are now versus then with with regard to logistical support and the ability to fight this thing. Probably just made that all up.
same story here. It’s all anecdotal but ours lines up with yours. |
The hospitals here are empty and laying off in significant numbers. Most people are sick, and then they recover.

hospitals in some states are more empty than usual because hospitals haven’t been performing elective or non essential medical services to limit the spread of covid in the medical system. It’s really not hard to understand when you look at it that way but I’m also married to a doctor so I get more real word info than fox , cnn or Facebook provide. I don’t like it either, but it is what it is.
I understand that, but there has to be a balance in how many lives we are saving and how many we are destroying, and that balance is way screwed up. |

Spot on, my bro-in-law is a surgeon, and they cut his pay 20% due to a lack of revenue from elective surgeries. (He’s not hurting, still makes more than most 777 skippers...). He said that when he does go in (they actually want him to stay home as much as possible) beds are somewhat empty for a potential overflow of patients. The country will reopen, things will get back to normal, life will go on. People need to turn the news off and go for a walk in the nice spring weather. I acknowledge that many sit at a lesser seniority than I, and therefore have a more interest in seeing things happen more quickly. To that, I really don’t know how to respond, not in your shoes. |
I had a pretty new FO back in March ask me whats the best advice I could give him with my 30 years of airline experience. All I said was SENIORITY!

I vote for both seniority and luck. Senior enough to not be furloughed, and enough luck to not watch the company chapter 7 liquidate because someone ordered their bat Pittsburgh rare and coughed like a 3 year old on a full Wuhan bus.
|
Seniority at a regional, Hahahah. The purpose of a regional is to get some hours and immediately abandon that dumpster fire for any other flying job you can get
|
Guys at my old regional that only fly CRJ-200’s are worried after what Oscar said at one of the United town halls. Basically saying that the 50-seaters are probably done for on the other side of this. So the CEO of the airline that you depend on for your flying as a subsidiary, basically used up only 30 seconds of a 60 minute town hall to talk about your fate. Whether that’ll happen is a different story, but it shows you how fragile things can be when you work for a place that doesn’t sell their own tickets.

with scope clauses ratioing mainline/regional...if the mainline shrinks so must the regional feed..outside of bankruptcy or LOA/MOU with unions...

This would be a good time to roll age 65 back to 60 if you ask me.

Actually no, I’m already in the position I want and I’m my 50’s. But thanks for asking. I always thought 65 was a bad idea

Just talked to my sister out there. She says hiking trails, golf courses and beaches are opening tomorrow. So this might be a bit misleading.
Sounds like each month, more and more things will start to open up. It’s not 3 more months of total lock down. |

We’re talking about a state that seldom does anything right. For many people living in that state staying at home and collecting unemployment for three more months is an absolute wet dream.
For one freaking second consider people other than yourself. Or not. Continue with your bleach drinking. It’s fine by me |

you guys are idiots. The state had a surplus before this virus. At the states I assume you consider “doing it right” are net negative and sucking off the tit of the government you so despise.
