Face Mask

For those of you who do not like wearing a face mask, make sure you have something to eat or drink the entire walk through the airport, security. Must stay hydrated on those walk arounds!

I’ll wear a clown nose if it helps public confidence and stops 1 guy from being furloughed.

Not spirit, but same. Would gladly wear a hazmat suit and gas mask if it keeps people off the streets.

I assume you mean relative to the last couple months because the TSA only showed about 14% of last year’s numbers (338k yesterday) And if you want to get really optimistic, about 18% of the lowest 2019 day (1.9mil) they show on the table. We still have a long ways to go, hopefully with big destinations opening in July we can at least get close to 50%.

I think (hope) that we'll have a bigger proportion of the passenger throughput than we did when it was all normal, and also hope that added capacity will be a key driver towards higher TSA numbers.

I love the hill that some of us are willing to die on. Face masks? Really? I have ZERO issue in wearing something that will help bring stability and restore prosperity to this industry and my livelihood. Given the time, effort and money we all have invested in this career, wearing a mask is such an easy step to take.

There are people who would put a loaded gun in their mouth and pull the trigger just because someone whose beliefs are different than theirs told them it's not okay to do so.

Specially if we are enforcing them on our costumers. I completely agree. Personally, I wouldn’t come back to a business where they say I can’t get in with no mask but none of its employees is wearing one. That’s the whole reason behind the read file’s “when in uniform”. We’re all fighting to keep our jobs, just cooperate......

Do we still have people calling the masks requirement an act of tyranny? Gosh I wonder what makes them happy. I actually want to wear a Black Lives Matter mask in uniform but I can't find one for purchase.

Wearing a mask is easy. You know what is not easy to wear? A ventilator.

But not the hero we deserve. I believe it was batman who once said that the mask is not meant to protect yourself, but to protect the ones you love. But not for me...I wear the mask only because I am one shady SOB.

A series of restrictions, stay at home orders, and social distancing guidelines were put into place which drastically reduced the transmission rate of the virus. Paired with increased ventilator production, this was enough to keep supply greater than demand

in fact, tremendous damage was done by putting people who shouldn’t have been on ventilators on them.

https://www.statnews.com/2020/04/21/coronavirus-analysis-recommends-less-reliance-on-ventilators/

https://ktla.com/news/nationworld/nearly-90-of-covid-19-patients-put-on-ventilators-in-new-yorks-largest-health-system-died-study-finds/

part of the problem was that coronavirus patients don’t act like other patients with ARDS, but part of the problem was that most physicians and nursing staff are neither proficient in the use of Ventilators nor credentialed to maintain patients on ventilators.

https://abcnews.go.com/Health/potent...ry?id=69907976

Short of general anesthesia, putting someone on a ventilator is about as hazardous a situation as you can get and demands many person-hours of highly skilled physician, nursing, and respiratory therapy care. Even with normal ARDS from other viruses and appropriate numbers of skilled personnel you lose about 40% of patients put on a ventilator. With COVID and misuse of ventilators, it was closer to 90% in some places - like NYC.

Oh, you're serious.

Ok then, so you'll be ok when someone shows up wearing a thin blue line mask or is trying to change the tag line to all lives matter instead of focusing on the injustice at hand? Many cannot discuss everyday politics or religion on the flight deck, let alone have a conversation about why some things need to be reformed.

There are places where statements need to be made, just about any other place, but the flight deck is not one of them given the current severe tensions on both sides.

I have no problem wearing my white “live matter” mask

im spreading my awareness about all the white people that are murdered that the liberal media doesn’t seem to care about.

You've applied a lateral comparison.

That is not permitted. You shall repent and explain why you're hateful and evil. Not my rules.

Your discontent has been noted Comrade Halon. Please report to the nearest rehabilitation center for processing.

Slowhawk 06-13-2020 06:31 AM

Why are y’all even having this discussion. PRF says “no statements or slogans” on the masks to be worn in uniform. Y’all can debate on wearing the one that says spirit or the one that doesn’t;)

Face masks are just another dumb measure just like hand sanitizer that turned out to be wrong because it isn’t a virus that you can get from surfaces very easily. Face masks only help if it’s a N95 mask and it is fitted to your face properly. CDC recommends people make and use masks from home. I’m guessing the micron level protection of your old sheets, underwear or bra are about as effective as a condom that is expired and has a .40 caliber hole in it. There is no more common sense and people can’t or are not allowed to decide what is best for them. It’s just asinine.
