oh goody.

you never answered my question…. What did spirit say in the interview when you voiced your concerns about the maintenance practices?

Has anyone seen SkyCap and Halon in the same room at the same time?

It seems Spirit has a more flexible balance of work and lifestyle. Imagine being 60 and still working 70hrs a months, holidays and weekends.

A few other factors were considered.

They said "a good airman asks questions and challenges suspects." 🧐

Is English your first language? Perhaps you missed this question in my post you quoted. I’ll try a third time.

training locations for Spirit

I work for A Cut Above Uniforms. I could not locate answers to the following:
Could someone tell me where initial and recurring training occurs?
Also, what are the three largest bases?

Thank you,
Chris

Made in China at its finest.

Remember when these were made stateside back when all crew rooms had the little discount referral card holders with referral cards in them for new customers.

Loved the shirts back then.

CJPPilot 10-12-2021 09:36 AM

We are shipping late July orders now.
More details of the issues causing this situation would have been provided to all customers waiting on orders.
The supply issues are resolved for white shirts but we are shipping slower than normal as we are taking each shirt out of its package
prior to shipping for loose thread trimming.

MCDU, I can hook you up a bit if you IM me your name or email.

Can someone post a pic of your current blazer? Buttons, Rank Stripe, Pockets?

Ahh.. It all started with the bulletin board cards. However, the shirts were never made in the US. We tried all around LA but found only one shop still making button downs and their quality was not high enough. That industry left when Walmart abandoned their "Made in the USA" policies.

made in Vietnam but your points taken. I’m curious why you have to announce that you work for a cut above just to ask where our bases in training are LOL

you could’ve just jumped in and been like hey, where are all your bases?

CJPPilot 10-13-2021 12:30 PM

I asked about training locations because more people flow through training rather than standard bases. Those locations allow us to serve a greater
percentage of your pilot group than other bases.

DrSteveBrule 10-13-2021 02:28 PM

I prefer the old thicker sweat collar.

PICsf340 10-13-2021 02:53 PM

Does anyone know if the school house runs right through the holidays or does it shut down for a few of the major ones coming up?

Ya'll need to work on your shipping. $9.00 to ship a $15 tie one state over in a small plastic envelope? Love your products, but in this amazon world, at least charge what it actually costs to ship....

GrumpyCaptain 10-14-2021 07:32 AM

Do you ship things? Amazon world has jaded you on pricing. A fed ex envelope is $12-$15 with our discount.

Nah, paying for shipping on most e-commerce is free with a minimum purchase. It’s the standard now

The Fedex "standard" airline discount has a minimum price for shipments. You don't get the 75% off from 10 bucks for example.

Junior base/Time to hold a line

What’s the most Junior base? ORD or DTW? Can you get a line right out of training there? If not, how long to hold lines in either? Any insight on time to get a line in all bases would be incredibly helpful. Thank you

Dtw most Junior of the two you mentioned.

If people are getting lines right out of training, then who is on reserve?

ive been here since early 2020 and cannot yet hold a line in dtw…even waiving everything down to one day etc.. Maybe December. will see…. But I’m still seeing people hired months before me on reserve. Granted we lost time due to Covid (over a year) but I’m approaching two years and still on reserve…. I’d plan for 4-6 months on reserve then be pleasantly surprised if it’s less.

With the steady hiring I'm sure you'll get a line soon. It sucks you had to sit reserve so long, especially with the terrible reserve rules. Definitely anomalous due to covid, but at least NK didn't furlough.

It’s not unheard of to get a line out of training at some places. Reserve can go senior depending on reserve rules (I know very little about NK reserve rules). I.e. people living in base who don’t want to work.
Thanks for the info! Very helpful!

I’m not complaining. Reserve rules can be improved but I came from the ‘voy and 8-hour airport standby…..and I got to keep my job. Life’s pretty darn good!

Both look like they'll go to a new hire in training via the vacancy today. Holding a line is anyone's guess. We're supposed to hire a lot of people next year, so I doubt it would take long to hold a line in a junior base.

Cyio 10-20-2021 03:51 PM

Been here more than six months and less than a year, holding a line is a very distant reality for me.

I would say plan on at least two years, one if things really pick up. I also say that with the assumption we are talking about junior bases. LAS, DFW, lord knows.

what airline are you at? I’ve been here just over 2 years, 1 of those being covid year and I’m almost 50% in our most senior FO base.

You may want to talk to someone about your bid because unless you’re in DFW, you should be there or close.
