My very limited understanding is that it is for line holders only. Spirit carries a larger number of reserves due to the ability for line pilots to drop their flying.

If they let reserves do it as well they would lose the coverage protection that allows the entire system to function.

just temporary until COVID MOU expires end of May. We used to be able to do it and could drop from
the middle, or swap a middle day to the end of the block, effectively turning a 6 day block into two 3 day blocks. Was absolutely glorious. It became an issue during negotiations when we were too lean and people dropped so they could get JRM trips. Was never ever an issue for the life of the contract up until that summer. Really is too bad. It completely changed the misery that “could potentially be Reserve”. That being said, for all the new guys & girls here, RSV really isnt all that bad. (For now).

and welcome to all the new hires and those starting in the future, great group of people here. 👍🏼

why drop? I was LCR Jan and Feb and flew one 2 day trip the entire time.

Because some of us have SCR and don't live in base!

Why does DFW stay the most senior?

it’s not that it’s incredibly senior... it actually isn’t. But there has been little to no growth there for a long time making it stagnant. No vacancies there and lots of peeps live in the DFW area.... not as many commuters. Thereby making it hard to get in

Do they have an amazing performing arts center?

"Arts" and "Orlando" in same sentence just does not seem right . . .

I’m commuting to short call (which I was already doing as a jr captain at a regional with poor work rules) and I have a family schedule and home life that is grateful for my temporary ability to spend some extra time taking kids to practice and birthday parties etc. so I take advantage of it while I can.

im happily commuting to short call at my final destination airline, obviously.... and it’s a temporary inconvenience but while we have this temporary benefit, I’m using it to my advantage.

Just dont go to LAS when you transfer out of DTW lol. All jokes aside I am glad you are able to use the relief, commuting is hard, especially on reserve, but like you said, at least this will all be for our final career stop.
