OAK layover (be careful)

Fair enough. Just don’t get all the hate as an overnight. It’s not our best but certainly not our worst.

I don’t dislike the overnight. The Oakland short is in a way more dangerous location than the long. Always amazed when I would hear of FAs walking around the OAK short at night. I like the long because it’s easy access to the City

Same here. That’s all I was trying to convey.

The S.F. Bay area which includes Oakland is an absolute gem of an American city. From the long stay hotel it’s a quick train ride over to the Embarcadero for a walk along the waterfront to Fisherman’s Wharf then uphill to the curviest road Lombard Street with numerous local food options on many street corners.
I’ve never felt unsafe in OAK. I’ve actually never felt unsafe on any of our layovers and I always walk around the areas where we stay.
Is there crime in America? Yes. Are there problems with homelessness? Yes. Could state, local and federal government agencies as well as the private sector in the Bay Area that has so much wealth do a better job of solving issues? Yes. But do those issues prevent me from enjoying our amazing American cities? No.
Take some basic precautions by not carrying a lot of cash or wearing your Rolex while out walking and explore our great layover cities.
And one more thing; avoid commenting on any threads started by Halon. He craves the attention but he’s really just a troll.

if you decide to walk outside and get in trouble, forget police assistance. Have the number for “Citezens De-escalations Services” handy instead.
