I didn’t think this airline had the ability to do that. Considering how bad we’re apparently hurting for FOs, you’d think that even with practically both feet out the door, having an FO who’s getting ready to leave still operate the flight gets a butt in the seat.

not when another is waiting for IOE. the seat will fill one way or the other.

Maybe if they weren’t getting poverty wages, they wouldn’t leave.

The sequence of events previously described sounded like a flight could get delayed or cancelled. For instance, let’s say during a flight from LAS to SAN turn, the FO says he has a class date with XX airline. Does the check airman stop the training when they get to SAN? If he did then the next flight would be delayed or cancelled. Somewhere down the line something would be affected, unless they waited until the trip was over to pull him off IOE.

If the ioe trip is a 3 day trip and on the first leg they get wind of it they won’t boot the fo off ioe delay the flight and deadhead someone else in to an outstation. That sounds like a logistical nightmare not to mention you have to use someone on reserve. They would coordinate someone else waiting for ioe to meet up with the crew either the next day after the overnight or maybe even after the next leg.

Imo they’d be more likely to discontinue training when they can practically swap the fo with someone else. Not at the first instance they caught wind they were leaving.

Bendo doesn’t ride in the back, he is high class, emphasis on the last three letters.

I know you’re just a few months out of being a regional pilot, but why don’t you calm down, call your union rep, and ask them nicely to explain to you how negotiations work.
