That number must include February resignations too. Official number as of today was 41 for January. 72 new hires showed up and 2 left during training. Those two are included in the 41 number.

Exactly right. They will even drag negotiating a contract out years, costing millions of dollars in order to keep pay rates at bottom feeder rates. Then throw a bone to the union about aircraft orders and unless they accept bottom feeder pay rates, they won’t be able to get these airframes. The weak will cave and vote yes. Shiney airplane syndrome lives on.
