This is a scary button that should ONLY be used in “extreme” or “emergency” situations…. Or so I was told years ago in a grave and solemn tone after using it to clear some weather in the low 20’s climbing out of LAX.
Since then my cockpit prep consists of covering it up with a post-it note with his initial reaction “NO!”

And the "anyone that says otherwise can shove it," you know that bravado ends once the guy in the left seat says "lets not do that"

Only time I used it was when descending out of 4000 down to 2000, while being vectored and cleared for the approach.
The plan was to hit APP and AP2, but hit EXPD instead. Houses got bigger fast.... When in doubt push V/S 0, and select speed
