There’s always flying that goes from ORD, DTW, LAS, DFW to Florida and then we do red eye flying to central/South America from MCO, FLL, and MIA for days 2 and 3, and then back to ORD, DTW, LAS, DFW on day 4. Since you are interested in whether you can drop to zero. Yes you can, but the danger in that is that when you try to rebuild your schedule, the only thing available for pickup is all the undesireable flying is all that is available, i.e. red eye flying and weekend flying. So beware. spirit will continue to have meltdowns like the one in August every year like they have for the last 8 years (except for 2020)…they keep saying they’re making changes, but nothing ever seems to change. There will be major meltdowns in the future. frontier looks like it will be a larger airline with their plane order. Spirit doesn’t have anywhere near that, your relative seniority will grow faster it seems at frontier. but in the end it’s all a crapshoot and you won’t know for 19 years if you made the right choice. if you want definites, United definitely will be around in 19 years when you retire…. So wait for United to call. At least you’ll be senior to all of us when we’re beating the door down to get in with United after our respective airlines go under. but if you come here, make sure you know your flows and memory items before you come to class, It’s the only training program I’ve known that if you don’t know it going into training, you’re still not going to know it when you finish training. It’s up to you to find out what you don’t know. New hire FO training, 4 sim sessions is all you get, then your type ride, though I’ve heard they give you an extra sim session now so 5 sims - that’s it - before your type ride. |
I have absolutely no clue how many planes frontier has and we are supposed to double our fleet in 5 years.
from reading all of his posts he seems like a high maintenance kind of pilot If disinformation can get him to choose frontier over spirit then I’d be okay with that. but anyone already here can see from the email we got the other day that we are in a good spot. Just hope we can cope with the growing pains. |

Wow I keep you up at night. Go suck a big hairy d/ck!
Kind of the South Jersey Shore or Brooklyn Bronx approach. I'm afraid if I show my dark side, you guys might actually like me. 😆 |
You serious, Clark?
This is like watching some couple argue about whether to go out to dinner for a special occasion at Applebees or TGI Friday. Who cares, just pick one ya troll. By the way, I work at Pollo Tropical. |

Had a buddy of mine, didn’t go on APC to ask which airline is better. Now he lives in a van down by the river.

FWIW, anyone else in this position should consider the following.
F9 is at 110 airplanes, and by 2027 we will have 192 net aircraft after our old leases are returned. While we may opt to extend leases, this is no guarantee I would not count on rocketship upgrades due to this unless we announce another order, extend many of our leases, or have significant attrition. If you're OK with that, our contracts are very similar between the two companies. At F9 we can credit a little more with our 125% override, but the scheduling rules at NK are better. It's a very close match up. |
When you get to the interview, and they ask you “so why Spirit?”, just lean back put your legs up on the table, fold your hands behind your head, and ask “so why not Frontier?”
If they don’t make a compelling case, thank them for their time and go fly planes with honey badger tails. |
Can someone educate me what makes the working rules better at spirit? Just so I can have an understanding. I know dropping to 0 is huge to some people, what else...?
I also understand that LTD is much better at spirit, frontier is only 8k. I am not trying to make a decision between the jobs, just would like to know why many people say contract wise spirits is better. |

That being said they are within an earshot of one another. It’s really close, personally I wouldn’t wait for one company over another if you get a job offer. |
