F9 or NK

I know this has been discussed but wanted to re-engage the discussion.

I have offers from Both F9 and NK.

I had not expected to be in this position and my personal feeling is F9 appears to have faster upgrade and more stability. Perhaps I'm incorrect?

What are some reasons to consider NK over F9 from an executive and financial management consideration? Indigo partners vs Ted and his team at NK?

Please no disrespectful comments. It's a major mid life decision and not one size fits all family needs. Just looking for alternate views.

Thanks.

Where do you live?

  • So then go to Frontier. Not meaning to be disrespectful, but are you really going to count on internet posters to make a major decision? Rah rah rah yellow planes rah rah rah werk rulez rah rah rah.
Here's my tip. Got to where your commute is easiest.

For your health.

Work rules are better at NK all other things being equal but that would not trump being able to live in base if that’s an option. The money is a push. Odds are they’ll eventually merge anyway.

ORD based for both. Live in the Midwest.

Earliest class date. With classes of 48 a month, even a few weeks make a difference.

if you live within reserve call out time/distance it’s kind of a wash, If not Spirit will let you drop flying a lot more than Frontier will.

Id be super curious to know how often the “Drop to zero” provision is used at Spirit. At Frontier the number of max credit bidders outstrips the min credit bidders by like…3:1 every month.

A surprising number of people drop a lot of trips - sometimes their whole schedule - to build something they like better out of open time and premium flying.

As stated, slightly better work rules at NK. Yeah people may not normally drop to zero, but having that option as a line holder is almost like an insurance policy. The companies operate essentially on the same business model with slight directional differences. NK seems to be trying to build more consistency in their network whereas F9 loves to add destinations that they serve once a week. While that may not be important to you, if you like to non rev on company metal with your family my bet would be NK might be less stressful.
