Also. I’ve left the captain behind as an FO when he thought it was okay to wait. The CBA does not say captain, it is pilot.

Sadly true. Witnessed the same.

Cabs here. “ I’ll wait for the hotel van I don’t want to cost spirit money.”

Um it’s over 30 mins. But sounds good see you at the hotel

Really? Man I hoped that was a thing from the past. I’ll do my best to save spirit money. That includes filing NCCs so they get their transportation $#!t together.

Enjoy the 4 hour surface deadheads to DFW :D

JohnDeSpacito 07-19-2022 01:12 PM

Do you think we will see a system bid for October or November or even later??

Nobody knows…I would just be guessing if I told you.

Halon1211 07-20-2022 09:35 AM

Well it’s definitely not October now…

MCDUmanipulator 07-20-2022 11:05 AM

Gotta finish filling Atlanta out first

Halon1211 07-29-2022 07:06 AM

I was on a flight yesterday sitting in the middle seat. Had a very nice Englishman on one side and another guy with a beard playing a guitar singing songs about Nashville on the other side me.

The Englishman told the guitar player something about not to open the Houston base because of it’s proximity next to Dallas now that he is running the show. Wink wink.

You mean the Englishman who is looking for every gate/slot he can find at LGA/JFK/EWR/BOS (outside of NK's so he can get DOJ approval)? Maybe check a map and see if JB has a problem with airports in close proximity to another JB Focus City.

Bluedriver , I'm impressed at how smart you think you are. You got what you think you want , that's what I thought at TWA . Good luck

Comparing the TWA fiasco is disingenuous at best.

Correct me than? Our contracts won’t allow to happen to us what happened to the TWA pilots. It’s pretty much a done discussion.

effnine 08-01-2022 02:31 PM

My point is Tdub Aa is in the books it's done and over . This merger has just started and you all act like you know what's gonna happen . You don't . Just have some humility and quit being such a bunch of know it all's . Cause you don't know

not only that but there’s federal law too that would protect us now because of what happened to TWA pilots.

Exactly. TWA pilots got downshifted in the seniority lists integration. Most were 10+ years. CA were moved to FO. FO were furloughed. Much worse for the FA. All were stapled. All were furloughed, everybody. That is now illegal.

effnine 08-02-2022 06:24 PM

I'm not talking about seniority lists I'm talking about the whole big picture. Hell who knows jet blue might end up doing really well , but that chapter is to be written and no one knows what the out come will be. Could be that blue yellow never get together seems a lot of aviation analysts feel that way. Might be jet blue becomes the new darling . We shall see .

Halon1211 08-16-2022 03:08 PM

Anybody want to take a guess at the total number of pilots or percentage of pilots that live near Houston but are DFW-based?

Hopefully the same number of displacements coming for DFW to help minimize the number of pilots involuntary displaced

Form a good source, I'm hearing a big displacement is about to be announced in DFW. Who knows what that looks like, but it's no good I can say that. If true, this company is truly being run by people completely out of touch. Sure, give folks in DFW another reason to jump ship.

When Delta did it there were 200 crews in DFW. It happens.

It's certainly the unfortunate part of the industry.

Sincerely,
A soon to be DFW commuter

If they make me a commuter I’d rather be commuting to delta, United, or fedex

also won’t there be a “fence” for a few years after the merger is complete like they have done for Other airline mergers in the past

and even if there isn’t a fence, can you still be displaced out of your base? That’s an honest question, I really don’t know… I thought the only way you could be involuntarily displaced out of your base is if there was a displacement bid or Company decides to close a base?

Fences are for widebodies. JB and Spirits fly the same airplane out of the same airport. Won’t be any fences.

You'd have to have a displacement bid or a bump and flush to be kicked out of MCO/FLL. And... There will NOT be a displacement bid or bump and flush for MCO/FLL.

Just my opinion, but I'd put money on that.

I’m not sure you realize just how many pilots NK has in those two bases, and how many more there would be if the reduction bid had gone through.

Still waiting on my morning coffee to brew but pretty sure you were the guy railing on about how saturated the NK market to Florida is when you were on here beating your Blue drum prior to the F9 decision, and that we have squeezed all the business we could out of it.

Now you are putting money that after eliminating domestic and international overlap on routes that don’t need the double frequencies, and B6 canning all the NK routes of unsophisticated Florida bound people you claim won’t make money…. That B6 will suddenly discover troves of discerning and affluent new replacement routes because, I dunno JetBlue effect, and FLL and MCO will grow exponentially (compared to your current staffing)?

Could happen, but you might want to hold on to your money

I could be wrong but I honestly don’t think they will completely close down DFW I think it will just shrink for now.

if they were truly going to close DFW I don’t think they would’ve went ahead and replaced the chief pilot there.

Since I have absolutely no clue how the process works, is it a complicated thing to replace a chief pilot? Lots of training or company resources involved?

Flyby1206 08-19-2022 09:35 AM

There will be a ton of FLL/MCO crews. I do agree with BD though and think they will avoid displacements and instead run a lot of trips originating in FLL/MCO through other bases. I would expect the seniority progression to become very stagnant in FLL/MCO once the companies combine.
