Spirit - Frontier Merger Terminated
“Spirit and Frontier have agreed to terminate the merger agreement. Spirit continues to be in discussions with JetBlue and expects to provide an update in the coming weeks.”
Going blue? Staying put? Is that even an option? Are synergies a thing of the past? Could we ever get synergies again? yay a new thread. |
If JB I'll stay but I'm working towards my options in rhe meantime. I have zero confidence our board will negotiate in good faith with JB. If they do it will come as a major surprise and if I have a CJO in hand by that time I'll have a decision to make.

Enjoy having bluedriver pop in here more than he already is to tell you all how good JB is and why you are lucky to be in talks with his airline. |

B6 may be a better choice of the two in a merger scenario, but I’m not throwing any parties about it. We still have a lot of work to do and uncertainty ahead. Looking forward to trading synergies for culture. |

Pop over to the jet blue forums and the topics sound awfully familiar, recruiting woes, high attrition numbers despite the year one increase, flight attendants underpaid., etc.

Now they get to listen to Bluedriver tell them how awesome it’s gonna be to get stapled below him and how that’s the only logical option but still the best option for them at the same time. Not gonna miss seeing the clown around.

Not sure it would make sense for JetBlue to buy Spirit and then close it's bases... a big part of the reason for the purchase would be the routes/gates in addition to the planes and crews. Getting rid of crew bases would reduce the presence of the airline at that field.

How does this work now that we are run by a group of people who very publicly said the JB CEO is a disingenuous liar and that the combined company would hurt consumers, be bad for the traveling public, and expect it to fail govt approval?
I mean, it's not like they said JB would be good but think Frontier would be better. I don't see how they come back from this. They sort of pushed their chips all in on Frontier and lost. Should be interesting. |

I wish the F9 pilots the best in their careers, contracts, and home. We're all doing the same job and I hope I can look with envy at your contract someday. But I can't put into words the relief that I feel knowing that I won't be working for Bill Franke. I was ready to hit the 'submit' button today on several apps if this went sideways. I don't let work effect my home life but this F9 business has been a stressful drag on all of us. So glad that it's over. I welcome Blue if that's our route and hope to Allah that we get new management if we stay it alone. |

I feel bad for all the fll captains making 150 hours in the training department.

Congratulations guys the drama is over. We will be fine here at F9 and I hope everything works out for both pilot groups. Let's all remember this was never about the pilots but rather management. We all need to stick together and try to get a contract others are envy of. Good luck to all and best of luck going forward.

I feel very sorry for the FL based NK captains (7-8 years and under) that are soon faced with the decision to either commute to JFK, or downgrade to retain their QOL.

Ah, already trying to bait people on the forums before the ink is even on the page? Shame Aviary, shame shame.
Sadly, as with any merger, lives are about to change. Merely expressing condolences, nothing more. |

No, Sir. Not trying to bait. I don’t have a dog in this fight, just some very dear friends that are extremely worried, and not just on the NK side, but the B6 side as well.
