Rebasing FOs
My entire new hire class as well as the classes ahead of mine are having to go to recurrent 4 months early because of FO staffing, and I’ve also heard on more than one occasion the company sending fo’s to recurrent after they just went through recurrent two months prior. If your idea of fun is doing jeopardy events every three months then this place might be a good fit.

Spirits training is top notch. The best in the industry. Just be thankful for so many training events. If you fail one of your 4 yearly recurrent’s you have to stay here and can’t get hired by a legacy. Smart business if you ask me. Can’t get hired else where if you fail a yearly recurrent 3 times in one year

They pull the same shenanigans at SWA. Sick calls are an option for training events, too.

Your sims are idle enough to allow that?

Our sims….of course we own no sims. Another valued business partner is utilized with sims in cities around the country. JetBlue could pack up our Miramar headquarters and fit all owned assets in one or two Pods. |

JetBlue could pack up our Miramar headquarters and fit all owned assets in one or two Pods. Spirit also owns several million dollars worth of full cockpit FTD’s, touch screen and door trainers. Certainly not sims, but these devices cost nearly a million each, with the FTD’s well north of that. No, we aren’t a traditional training department when compared against a legacy, but we aren’t just completely outsourcing all our training and equipment either. |

That’s actually not true. Spirit owns at least 3 of our current sims, the third recently installed at AFG In FLL. Just because they are at AFG facilities and maintained by their techs doesn’t mean AFG owns them.

I’ve heard the sim ownership rumor before. There is nothing out there in writing to confirm that Spirit actually owns the simulators. I would caution against believing anything that comes from the training department. That group tends to be full of cheerleaders because none of them want the instructor gigs to end. AFG corporate info also doesn’t confirm this information and it seems to go against their stated corporate identity as specializing in dry leasing sim hours. Trying to say that Spirit has invested any significant amount of money in training or infrastructure is folly. You could pack up the Sheltair assets into another pod. Everything this company does is focused on the cheapest, minimalist way to perform the task and yes that includes the training department. |
