Is there a good MCDU/FMS simulator that someone recommends or should I just wait for formal training?

Will I get much from it without a release or other data?

Don’t worry about studying the MCDU.Study flows and once those are memorized, then study limitations, memory items, and proficiency items.

You could get Microsoft flight sim. Idk if the 320 with the programmable FMC is an add-on or not, but it’s worth looking into if you want

You do realize though fos are only averaging around 300hrs a year their first year. To even be eligible you’d need 1000 hrs which you likely won’t get till year 3 maybe 4 with current situation. Also skywest has like a 4 or 5 month ioe wait time atm. Can’t just look at pay scale and assume that’s really achievable. It’s not the whole picture. Can’t say for sure what the picture is at every regional but skywest and rpa are both in the same situation where new hire fos just aren’t flying that much and barely doing 8 hrs a month. As a senior fo holding a line sure maybe but lack of crew means less line and it’s going to take months maybe even more than a year to hold a line to even make progress to build the time.

No. Don't do this. You'll get training software on the ipad to practice. It's a cakewalk.

Go to Spirit. Chances are in two years it will be a “mainline.”

They may not be the best paid today but as Mesa has just shown past performance does not guarantee future performance. Refinance the loans, take out more if needed to eat, and live cheap…or all three. This is a short term pain for long term gain problem. Most of us did it. I slept on an air mattress sharing a room with 3 others for 2 years. You too will succeed.
