didn’t Haralson come here 11 years ago? So he came over a decade ago for the singular purpose of dealing with an acquisition that wouldn’t even be announced until 9 years into his tenure ?
and I’m on the opposite side of the spectrum. I’m convinced frontier will be back in the picture by the end of the summer. Haralson knows this , knows he won’t have a position and simply decided to find a new job. That’s how I see it anyways.

I don't think anything will be announced or anything like that till a new DOJ is in place, or there's certainty that the current one is on the way out....

It gets grim in fall of 2025 when the huge debt payment is due. They have plenty of liquidity until that point. Unfortunately, this management team doesn’t have the chops to turn it around, imo. They need to get breakeven and try to refinance the debt.

Any word or rumors on how the debt refinance negotiations are going? Also are there any airlines who recently did a debt refinance that is similar to this?

possible. But I think they come back in the picture regardless. They’ll a) take a calculated risk DOJ won’t sue b) they think there’s a good chance of a new administration or c) DOJ sues to block it and they choose to battle out in court again.. my over/under is a Labor Day announcement. I’ll take the under.

Yeah, its interesting that he doesn't seem to shut up about us. Mainly Frontier, he has been talking about for years.

I would be worried if he wasn't talking about us.

He's been saying for awhile that the ULCC model is on its way out of the US.

One possible scenario is that he's trying to shift the narrative in his favor in order for his company to acquire one of the smaller airlines in the future.

Let's say that hypothetically speaking we exit the ULCC market later this year, it would be a much more difficult argument for the DOJ to win a lawsuit blocking a merger.

The poors are not a protected class when it comes to air travel. NK could change it's business model next week to an exclusively premium service airline and the DOJ couldn't do jack to stop it.

Similar article with response from Barry. I don’t like him but I liked his response.

I notice hypocrisy in Kirby's statements. He bashes the ULCCs for charging for carry on bags at the gate, then admits that United does exactly the same with their basic economy fares. Also the article does a good job pointing out how the ULCCs are improving their operations and have dropped change/cancel fees.

I think what people are kind of missing is the large legacy airlines have multiple revenue streams and can get close enough on price to match us on where we fly. So, I think COST does matter. UAL/DAL/AA can subisidize the loss on these tickets becuase they have CC revenuve, intl etc. The only way we can subsidize lower ticket costs is by lowering labor cost?, lol
