Fellow Spirit Pilots:
National Mediation Board member Puchala, assisted by senior mediator Zach Jones, recessed negotiations at 10pm this evening. Regrettably, no agreement was reached. We now look to the NMB for direction in what comes next. We will pass along additional information as soon as it becomes available. Fly safe, fly our contract. Fraternally, Your MEC |
$60/hr. Capt. 27/hr.FO. maybe good for a 250hr. ERAU grad that needs 100hrs. of O.E. Just hope the public doesn't mind a a Buffalo incident every now and then. I think they lowered the bar so much that even the 2%'ers won't cross the line!

My new heroes!
COPENHAGEN - Scores of Carlsberg workers walked off their jobs in protest Thursday after the Danish brewer tightened laid-back rules on workplace drinking and removed beer coolers from work sites, a company spokesman said. The warehouse and production workers in Denmark are rebelling against the company's new alcohol policy, which allows them to drink beer only during lunch hours in the canteen. Previously, they could help themselves to beer throughout the day, from coolers placed around the work sites. The only restriction was "that you could not be drunk at work. It was up to each and everyone to be responsible," company spokesman Jens Bekke said. Carlsberg had mulled a stricter drinking policy for years and finally decided to impose the new rules on April 1, prompting protests from the staff. Bekke said around 800 workers went on strike Wednesday and around 250 walked off their jobs Thursday, resulting in interruptions to beer transports in and around Copenhagen. Carlsberg's truck drivers joined the strike in sympathy — even though they are exempt from the new rules, Bekke said. The truck drivers are permitted to bring three beers from the canteen because they often don't have time to have lunch there. The trucks have alcohol ignition locks preventing the drivers from driving drunk, he added. |

You must be from the instant gratification generation. They discuss previous weeks events on Tuesday. |
previous weeks? I though this was 'get it done now' negotiation session? Luby said if nothing got done those two days, release would (most likely) come real soon. Its obvious mgnt has no interest in coming to the table with anything worth while at this time; and the mediator is labor friendly. So my question is; what's the deal?!? we don't have a contract, no progress this week, lets cut the crap and get this going already!

On Tuesday the NMB meets and will discuss what happened this week during negotiations. Then they will decide. |
And... the following THR they'll call for another and FINAL meeting to see if we are getting released.
We will get a final word, the day that NK has vending machines to take a leak or crap on the AC's.. SOON!! |

can we kick the crap out of people if they cross a picket line?! |
We just officially made SNL Weekend Update about the bag fee. At least they had the Airbus with the checked paint job instead of all the stock footage from the MD80's other media outlets were using!

Whats up with BB's latest letter? He stated he is waiting until we have completed negotiations to hold his town hall meetings that are about our future. Why the delay? He also stated he is encouraged by our progress in negotiations. What Progress?

High level meeting with Chuck Schumer; who knows???? Was anyone really going to attend... maybe the 2%er's??? |
Maybe the company expects a release???
I don't know...the prudent thing to do is to contact your union rep and ask them. Heaven forbid we all read or post on web boards and become labeled "half-wits, pariahs, and cowards!" They union sent us an email last week telling us that "negotiations ended without agreement," but it's important to note that they were careful to avoid commentary in their email about how negotiations were going. I know one thing for sure...nothing good has ever come from attending a Town Hall meeting while engaged in negotiations. :) |

Tomorrow is the last day a vacancy bid can come out. Any bets on if they issue another recall? Otherwise we have to wait until next month.

|
Can someone send the last bid pack to me as well. I hear that 14 more recalls for July but company is been very careful due to rising fuel. Next recall for Nov. 1 start.. Size will depend on if they call this next group..

I will say it again. The LAST thing I would want right now would be a recall!!!
Please don't recall me. LOL Once the strike crap is over and the contract is settled feel free. |
Anyone hear anything about phone calls going out yesterday for a July class date?
|
I heard 14.

I wonder if anyone in flight ops is even remotely aware that the pilots are getting ready to go on strike. ...and why recall 14 over the summer when we have an overstaffing issue every Sept? Something is going on here that we aren't aware of. We are missing a big piece to the puzzle. |
Maybe or 3000 hours of Open time in June made them shudder a little.
No I didn't get a call, but I would deny it if I did. But I am in a unique position where I am making a decent living not flying and wouldn't want to risk being on the street again. |

I would suspect the company will cancel recalls and upgrades in short order if we're granted a release. The company must plan and operate their business as normal up until that point. Why would you spend money training recalls/upgrades when you know those same pilots may potentially strike within 30 days?
For cryin' in the soup I hope I'm dead wrong. I can't think of a worse way to mess with our furloughed pilots' lives right now then to have them consider quitting their current job, accepting a recall here, and then having NO job when a release occurs and their recall is canceled. |
I hear a backdoor deal was made that we never get a release. The company will proceed as usual. Meanwhile ALPA sweeps up dues from us every paycheck and no one has big enough cahonies to stand up and push the NMB.
