As for the arbitration comments, we should ALWAYS be looking for ways to improve our standing as pilots, not just every four (whoops...I mean FIVE) years.

"Get What We're Worth!"

Unity is vital to our collective efforts, not every 4/5 years but every year, and everyday. Every Spirit pilot went on strike hoping for pay parity now. Suggesting that we did not all strike for pay parity weakens unity and is simply not accurate.

The TA that resulted from our collective efforts is less than perfect, but as we all know 74% of us voted knowing that a point of diminishing returns had been reached.

I disagree that 74% voted for it because they believed we had reached a point of diminishing return. Maybe the MEC decided to take the deal for the reason you state, but the line pilot was in a different position.

My three closest Spirit friends ALL voted FOR the TA because they were forced to choose between "no man's land" and the TA. Given that choice by our Union and it's ALPA Counsel, my friends voted YES. They didn't like the deal, they didn't like much of anything - but they decided that AT THAT POINT the risk of staying on strike was far too great to take that chance. Their YES vote reflects an opinion I find often enough to allow me to speculate that most of the 74% voted yes because it was better than being unemployed.

BTW, all of my "Law"men friends except one voted for the contract.

Of all the pilots I know that voted NO, only one was a "Law"man. The vast majority of the NO votes I am aware of came from the junior FO ranks. Pilots who have a history of being a part of slightly more active unions.

For the record, I voted NO. I hate trip averaging. Period. No politics necessary ;)

Note: Trip averaging is good for one thing. It gave me an unpaid day today, sitting in a hotel for 30 hours, and allowed me time to waste arguing on internet forums.

TTOCSMCC 05-10-2011 12:37 PM

Skybolt, I think I over-generalized in my take on yes vote motivations.

However, unity is something we have to support on an on going basis. It's important going forward defending what we have and looking forward to whatever comes next.

I am an OT kind of a guy and I am all for 150%. But the big problem with giving anything for 150% it is that the company can decide to staff properly and we all will fly 85h average lines with nothing in open time. I.e. think of this past March and April. FLICA was dead. They can simply hire enough peeps so NOBODY will work a single 150%.

I would not want to give up anything for 150% anymore for the above reason. Certainly I would not want to give up the transition language, even though I myself am too junior to use it to my advantage.

I agree Norm, anything we give, we will never get back.

Target price range for IPO is set at 14-16 per share. Spirit is now hoping to raise up to 320 mil.

Nearer than you think.

"Spirit Airlines commenced marketing its US$320m initial public offering this morning. Citigroup and Morgan Stanley are marketing 20m, all-primary shares on behalf of the discount carrier at US$14-$16 with pricing targeted for the evening of May 24."

So does that mean we'll have new management and yet another manual revision the morning of May 25th?

Men, Life itself is an exercise in "give and take". As long as you take more than you give, you're winning. Just follow a simple rule and everything will be fine - don't give anything that is valuable to you.

For example, back in April of 06, when the FedGov required security tng, the company wanted to save the costs of bringing every pilot into Mirimar and paying them 4 hours and the union wanted to save every pilot from having a day stolen from his life to attend tng. So they made a deal. The union allowed the company to pay two hours pay for one hours tng time and gained these items: the pilot was able to arrange a tng time that was suitable to the pilots timetable and gained a THREE HOUR reserve call out. If you've ever been a junior pilot sitting reserve, you KNOW how good of a deal that was, and now you know that it cost virtually NOTHING.

Just wanted to get the NKS thread back on the first page, been awfully quiet. Anything new? Anyone?

BoredwLife 05-20-2011 10:13 AM

Bellingham Washington. West coast. Same stuff. But Bellingham was officially mentioned by managment.

Sailor 05-20-2011 07:45 PM

I wonder if they are after Vancouver or Seattle's public. On the other hand, who really cares as long as we have the business.

The IPO road show video shows an increase in flights on the Canadian border, Maybe this is the beginning.

Another Cpt bid for August, wasnt expecting that.

Good News!:D

bubi352 05-23-2011 04:41 PM

Based in Miramar, Florida, Spirit Airlines (proposed ticker: SAVE) is scheduling a $300 million IPO with a market capitalization of $951 million at a price range mid-point of $15 for Wednesday, May 25, 2011. The full IPO calendar includes seven others totaling $3.25 billion.

bubi352 05-24-2011 06:26 PM

Well never mind. Reuters just announced the IPO is delayed and this hours from going public. Great. That doesn't sound good.

BoredwLife 05-24-2011 07:05 PM

Im thinking a last minute buyout.

Sailor 05-26-2011 08:52 AM

We are public.

shiftwork 05-26-2011 12:44 PM

looks like IPO 9000 for the "Money Guys", so far...... ??????

Short Bus Drive 05-26-2011 03:38 PM

Congrats guys! (I think?)
You get any shares? I can't remember the old contract, and don't know what the new one states...

CommutR4Life 05-27-2011 03:21 PM

Anyone else find the latest REV to the green pages with misaligned holes punched?! revisions are annoying enough without this non-sense!

319wisperer 05-27-2011 03:26 PM

Green page revision?! Crap, I'm on a four day and Im not gonna get within 300 miles of my v file in fll, I wonder if ill get an LOI for not inserting them.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... maybe!!!
Coming through ACY anytime soon?:D

CommutR4Life 05-27-2011 03:53 PM

Didn't anyone get the memo? Commuters have to fly in the night before, report immediately to their V-file and insert any revisions that are found. Everyone else has to take the revision to a quiet, undisturbed place. Turn off all cell phones and disconnect from the internet. You may be required to submit to a breathalyzer test during revision insertion. Certificate action may be possible if these rules are not followed! (Because, you know, grabbing the revision and glancing at weather or not the station your going to pertains to it, then inserting the rest on the way is just not safe!)

SpiritFO 05-28-2011 02:39 AM

I just did mine this morning. Holes were off. mther fkers

just a friendly reminder: It says it has to be "inserted" into your binder... nothing about being attached by rings or in correct order. TTFWIW......

NO!!!!!! Several have gotten warning letters from the FAA for that very reason. It is NOT enough to stick the packet into your binder, it must be properly updated.

shiftwork 05-28-2011 01:27 PM

duh... take it out of the packet and place it in your binder. Please show me a FAR or something in NK's FOM that states they must be "ringed" or in sequential order. If so, every time you pull out your Jepps you are out of compliance:)

This is really a minutiae item as far as most of us are concerned......

Jedinight 05-31-2011 12:48 PM

I was told that Spirit has started interviewing again? Anyone know if this is true and when next class would start?

I did see the 6 Capt. upgrades for Aug 1 for FLL.

It's for a friend that wants to get on with us.

Hello to all,

JN

Listen. Im not trying to start a war here. If you havent noticed, the FAA has been on a warpath the last few years. Many of our pilots have had their records ruined over seemingly small items. Im telling you that the FAA has begun to crack down on pilots Jepp revisions. You can take that and do what you want with it. As for myself, Im going to sit in the crewroom, complete my Jepps, and then proceed to the aircraft...as instructed. If you want to argue to legality and wording in the FOM with the FAA, have fun with that.

Hello to all,

JN

I havent heard of another class anytime soon, but that doesnt mean there wont be one. I do know, and this may come as a shock to all of you, that we are way understaffed for the summer schedule. That being said, our staffing is probably on par with the fall requirement, and I would NOT want to see anyone hired just to be furloughed if fuel runs up any higher.

Tell your friend to definately be ready this fall.

SG1159 05-31-2011 02:14 PM

Rumor- no more classes until September, maybe 1 per month after with the new A/C coming. Several interviews in April, I think there are at least a few in a pool now....

You wouldn't know it if you looked at the FLL open time for June. Like 10 trips for the rest of the month, and %75 of them are for the first week

Not in ACY though. I have been denied almost every swap for not enough coverage. Its starting to get really old.

So no open time AND no drops... Anybody know what percentage the initial reserve coverage has been? I remember something about there having to be a minimum initial reserve coverage. Something about a rolling 12 month average, but I don't have my cba with me. Seems like we haven't been able to get float or drops for a long time - like years.

600rvr 06-03-2011 06:01 AM

Wait a second. I was assured by ALPA that this new contract would enforce proper staffing. I'm confused  hahahahahahhahahabahaha
