Furthermore, this same individual thinks they are "professional" and "doing a service" to the industry. Who is the person..Mary Schiavo?? That's absolutely disgraceful.

This business is all about INTEGRITY. It wasn't long ago that a captain and I were put in a bad situation involving a maintenance problem. I can tell you from personal experience that PO and JC showed the utmost professionalism and looked out for both of us. We didn't need some union rep to stand up for us and make the situation worse. The captain and I JOINTLY decided to tell the truth, not hide any details, and we found Ole and JC respected our integrity and backed us up. We were cleared of ANY wrongdoing.

Writing a book, about your former co-workers, slandering them without any check on the facts, is something the likes of which the "New York Times" would do...Simply outrageous..

Well said. Tell the truth, and everything will be OK. Some guys get into trouble when they start to be dishonest.

What a joke!!! We had one of the best quarters in the history of the airline and he has the nerve to cry poor to the employees in some stupid e-mail! Its obvious that our strike vote is having a HUGE impact over at corporate. It will be interesting to see what comes out of the negotiations this week.

StangDriver 05-18-2009 08:08 AM

Did you see Q4 for 2008? 21 million operating profit while over 100 guys furloughed. The airline is doing well and the investors are now getting a fantastic return on investment.

Sailor 05-19-2009 07:27 PM

So...3-4 A320's for MAR10 Solid!!

Does this one hold water?

BoredwLife 05-19-2009 07:50 PM

Funny that Basil came into a recurrent and said 5-7 in January or Febuary.

Hey I will take something, cause it is better than nothing. Well... when spring comes around we will see.

StangDriver 05-20-2009 10:45 AM

I heard 4 starting in February or March and receiving the 4th next year by the end of September. I'll believe it when I see it.

Sailor 05-20-2009 12:03 PM

Better than the opposite!!!:)

Angel 05-20-2009 03:49 PM

Job fair???

Hey my furloughed and active colleagues... I guess you have seen the Job fair at DFW posted at fltops.com, now, I have noticed that Jetblue is listed as a potential company, but their official website says that they are not hiring at this time, what is your opinion about it???
Thank you.

captscott26 05-20-2009 04:28 PM

a friend over in the training dept says they are done hiring for the year....but if you are going anyway it wouldn't hurt to get your resume in the "good stack".

Sailor 05-24-2009 11:10 PM

Any news on contract?

dudeskibro 05-25-2009 05:43 PM

And back to those new planes...is that real or a rumor?
If real, would that mean recalls and when?
I'm guessing 180 seats if they are a320s...are they the "JC special" with 1 jumpseat?
Does anyone know anything about these birds?

Sailor 05-25-2009 06:28 PM

That's what we all hope for, but it is HUSH HUSH time, just like any other place...they are saying 3-5 for MAR09 and more later, but there is a rumor that they are trying to find one for this year, true or not, sounds good..

Now we will see how this changes in the next few weeks, metamorphosis is a beautiful thing.

Cheers:)

Left Handed 05-26-2009 10:50 AM

Do you mean MAR10!?! 09 would be great.

flyingtigermco 05-27-2009 06:03 AM

Everyone needs to make a little money on the side, BUT MAN!! what an idiot... I think this happened in AUG 2007. (Flight 676 from Kingston, Jamaica to Fort Lauderdale, Florida)

BoredwLife 05-28-2009 02:46 PM

I freak out everytime I take one of these pee tests. Years ago when I was about 18 I took a DOT Drug test required as a prerequsite to be employeed by an FBO that I had previously worked for. I got a call from the manager a few days later saying that my test came back positive for some sort of perscription pain killer. I was not on any medication nor had I ever taken a pain killer in my life.

I flipped out and called the lab in a fit of rage. 20 minutes later they call me and say they had mixed the result up and were sorry. You believe that!!!!

2Co2Fur1EXwife 05-28-2009 03:29 PM

I always wonder about who chooses to work somewhere collecting peoples pee all day. What a crappy job, wonder what the quals/pay is like.

bubi352 05-29-2009 06:18 AM

You shouldn't say that. For some, it is a fetish :D

I had them pop me for one on the way back from Lima once, they came onto the jet bridge while we were deplaning. She wanted me to sign the form and start the clock ticking right there. I explained to her that I was not legally back in the country yet, and that even though we have priority in immigration, if there are other crews waiting or not many lines open, it can take quite a while to clear. I told her I would be happy to meet her on the other side of customs and sign the form there. She told me that would be a refusal to sign and she couldn't let me leave. It wasn't like I could go anywhere in between. Finally we settled on adding extra time to the alotted window, but man what a fiasco

I had to laugh during training when the Drug Test Lady came in to speak to the class. Seems we spent more time on that than anything else. Just another hour and thirty minutes of my life that I can never get back.

She actually had the audacity to say "pilots think they are better than everyone else". My sim partner (former Pan Am/ATA Captain) looks at me and says "that's because we are".:D

She then had the nerve to say "a large percentage of pilots are alcoholics." Then she went on to stroke her own ego about how many pilots she had busted in her time and NK and how proud she was of it.

That sounds like the same woman... she began to insinuate that I had something to hide, and making comments loud enough for others to hear.

I asked her just what she was implying, and she said something along the lines of "if i let go without signing this than you could leave and allow time to get something out of your system before we can test you again"

I looked at her and said "So you are not only accusing me of having something in my system, but also of a plot to try to hide it in some manner? Do you have any evidence of this, or are you sure you want to make that claim?"

That's when she offered another half hour to clear customs.

In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed or birthplace or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American and nothing but an American.
There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also isn't an American at all.
We have room for but one flag, the American Flag...
We have room for but one language here and that is the English Language...
We have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.

I have always been met on the jetway, if that is not right maybe we should get the union involved here.

yeah, what if your not going to stop by the crew room? That doesn't make sense, everywhere I worked it was jet bridge

They meet you at the aircraft, then you follow them to the crew room. Then they give you a taxi voucher. This way, there is no excuse for you car breaking down.
