LAS seems to be easier. Plus, you will never get stuck there because we have a 0:45 back to DFW...........well unless ORD is delayed 4 hours like it was for me the other day but if it goes into a day off you can get it back.

Does anyone know when (dates) they last interviewed? Over a month ago, I received a link to fill out the full application. I promptly did the app and have not heard a thing since. Did they not like what they saw? Or maybe they have not interviewed?

You need to be patient... there are over 8,000 resumes on file of which 500 are of qualified applicants with internal recommendations. There is a long line...
Best of luck!

Thanks, Ronny. Appreciate the help. I wish I was going down there on a secret service mission ;)

Beginning of May was the last I know of (personally). Don't know if they have had any since. Training apparently slows over the summer then will pick back up. But as we were told the only thing certain is uncertainty

Lots of apps on file as previously stated. You really have to have an internal recommendation that can put your stuff on the top of the pile.

Best of luck

New memo out:
- hiring continuing
- no internal recommendations being accepted currently due to "saturation"

bubi352 05-17-2012 04:03 PM

I was told 12 a month. Hiring will continue like this into next year - hopefully.

Good that we're continuing to hire, sure: management is voting to continue to invest in the company, we can hopefully get some well-qualified guys that are available now (separating military, Midwest, AStar, Aloha, USA3000, United, experienced RJ Captains, etc.), and in a seniority based system, hiring is good for all of us already onboard.

However, the internal rec thing is NOT so good. Instead of current line pilots helping to influence who goes in front of the interview board (and ultimately who we all fly with, who ends up being a future Captain here, and who has my family's safety in their hands when they use our pathetic non-rev benefits), flight ops management and HR are making these decisions without our input now. We are not vetting our own now, potentially. That is NOT better.

No offense to the many great candidates who don't happen to know someone already here. Knowing someone doesn't make you a great pilot, but knowing someone and them choosing not to recommend you helps to ensure that only the best candidates get the chance to become Spirit pilots, and, sadly, this system keeps many great candidates on the outside looking in. I'd prefer a system where HR did the initial screening, placed pilots into an applicant pool, and then used recommendations to determine who gets the interviews, which would prevent less-qualified candidates from getting interviews simply b/c they know someone, but still allow an internal recommendation to help determine who ultimately ends up flying for us.

yawdamp 05-19-2012 12:44 PM

+1 Well said regarding hiring...

Sailor 05-19-2012 03:22 PM

agreed, but nobody can change the current unwritten policy.

Normann 05-22-2012 11:58 AM

I too keep hearing from a bunch of different guys who have access to the "train wreck" (the excel file with the training plans) that the 12/month will continue as long we are getting the deliveries. Tim M was heard saying that hiring may even increase above 12/month. There was an email for more instructor positions just recently. Also the simulators are planned to be operational by first half of 2013. All good signs. Not to mention that oil is down a little.

Hugh Betcha 05-23-2012 05:46 PM

Apparently, the MIA FSDO isn't impressed and Joe H. isn't handling them well. Life Rafts. Seriously? Omni 75's are flying our "over-water" routes and we're putting empty 321 seats into BOG at the last minute. The more things change the more they stay the same.

I think I even miss Greg L. as at least when he ran out of fingers and toes he'd ground the airplane.

Why not file over the coastal routes? Seems silly to outsource flying than to increase the burn a bit? Idk. I find the situation very embarassing.

PruneJuice 05-23-2012 09:09 PM

Aren't you people embarrassed to fly for this operation?

Yep.

Not to mention we're losing flying to Omni as well. At least we're doing better than Faceplant's IPO.

Pilot 2 "Did you buy any SAVE?"

Pilot 1 "You gave them your life - don't give them your money".

Sure we are.

We all wanted to be UAL/CAL/SWA/AA/ATA/TWA/PAA guys (making less and/or no money) when we grew up.

What industry do you think you're in?

Are you not ashamed fancy pilot guy?

Nope, 16 days off this month with over 100 hours of credit. Not embarrassed at all actually! Im kind of digging it.. I drive 30 minutes to work and have a lot of schedule flexibility and the only BS i have to put up with are delays, which, admittedly, can get out of control.

Nope. I get 3 weeks annual vacation. Im using one week of my vacation right now. Thanks to schedule flexibility and contract language I am off for 24 days in a row. What's not to like?

willflyforcash 05-24-2012 05:49 AM

Any truth to the !*tchboard rumor that the June class was cxld? Any info?

Don't feed the troll, guys. PJ rarely, if ever, has anything worthwhile to contribute to this board.

Just ignore it (the troll) and it'll go away......

drosenst 05-24-2012 06:37 AM

The June class cx rumor is not true. Both classes are still a go, and it sounds like classes every two weeks the rest of the year.

drosenst 05-24-2012 08:25 AM

Actually I stand corrected, the 2nd class in June has been postponed.

Sailor 05-24-2012 12:39 PM

I don't really think it means anything, just the normal lack of organization skills that seems to prevail here no matter who is in charge. Also a class or two of 12 or 6 it isn't a big deal since we are pretty well set now.

I don't know if we got 614 and 615 yet, but the next delivery it isn't until nov-dec (leasing permitting).

Small airline, unorganized, with change in classes means nothing.

Remember the amendments from LP (rev 1, 2, 3 etc) on every single vacancy and upgrade announcement?
She is gone, and nothing has change, nor I think it will with 1100 pilots.

We learned how to live with it and pay zero attention.

Now back to my 18.5 days off line and 90 hr cdt, God I love this place.

Had the plane from LAX-ORD few days ago, the worst was the front lav, everything else were NEF's, cabin lights, trays, carpet, etc. 319's are getting beat to hell. Until the renovation starts they are gonna keep looking like that.

Dilbert 05-24-2012 03:00 PM

Why don't I ever get fun things like this on my flights. Woman ordered off plane for wearing T-shirt bearing slogan 'If I wanted the government in my womb, I¿d ******* a senator' | Mail Online

Look at that. A proud rj driver. So did you get your 737 type rating yet? Too much time between the 7 legs?

Please get lost dude. You have no clue what you are talking about.

bubi352 05-24-2012 05:57 PM

614NK arrived. It was suppose to be there earlier but it had an issue with the radome. We didn't accept delivery of it until this was fixed. 615NK should be there in the coming weeks if I remember. I will find out more about it.

I was talking to another pilot and he said that the Mia fsdo stopped our deliveries until our mx gets it together? Any truth to that?
(probably just pure rumor)

bubi352 05-25-2012 04:11 PM

I doubt it. Everything has been so far pretty much on schedule. If there is a change in deliveries I will post it on here.
