Default COM 3 Datalink Fault

Am I missing something? Or is the Circuit Breaker Reset procedure no longer in the COM?

I'm a new (ish) CA, and have never looked it up myself, always the CA did and just told me which CB to reset.

Last week I had this pop up and for the life of me I could not find the procedure. We both looked for a long time. So either I need to up my COM Supplemental game, (entirely possible, it's confusing AF, so spare me the "as a new captain..." lectures) or it was removed with OB 18-05.

3.224.15 under Datalink. This is for the 319 tails but the breakers are the same

The common way that most airbus pilots at other airlines use is not in our books btw

VHF 3 is not there if that’s what you’re asking. Seems like it’s been in and out since I’ve been here.

Another quick fix is to select Comm 3 on your RMP and select voice then go back to data.

cant remember the reasoning behind it, but we were told a long time ago to refrain from this fix method.......anyone?

All I know is with a hard VHF3 fault the ATSU reset won’t do jack. Nor will knocking off the fairy dust on com 3.

Yeah... we found this, but did not think it was the appropriate action, so did not attempt. (It was not the CB's that we remembered our friends telling us that they pulled when it happened to them.)

So, being that there is no approved procedure, am I to assume that the appropriate course of action is to continue the flight without ACARS and write it up in the logbook after landing? Because I"m not trying to play circuit breaker bingo, so if that's what I gotta do...

You can switch comm 3 to voice and try hitting the ptt a few times and if that doesn’t work reset the “vhf 3” breaker behind the FO, cant remember the line and number but its the one that isn’t dusty and says VHF3 on it. Or you can continue on without it and write it up when you land if you’re worried about any disciplinary action.

Either way you do you...
