Crew Meals
Fairly new to Sun Country ( 7 months on property) so forgive me for my junior rant.
Im curious as to why almost every pilot at Sun Country is always disgusted by the crew meals we get? For one I think that it is a fairly nice gesture of the company to even give us something at all. We operate as a low cost, budget conscious airline, so im confused as to why some pilots think they are entitled to a hot meal every leg on their trip.
Sure the food is not the best quality, but is it really that bad? I don't come from a very well off family and find it completely wrong that day after day I see people just throwing away the entire bags of food ****ed off at what they got. I feel that crew should at least opt in for getting crew meals if they want them or not, instead of just wasting food. I dont have time often with early shows or quick turns to go get food in the terminal , and i get some real nasty looks from pilots when I actually eat the wrap/sandwich we get as if I'm eating some left overs from a trash can
Just saying, theres not a whole lot of jobs out there in the world that are required to even give you a piece of an apple for your lunch , let alone 2 whole bags of food...
End of rant

My opinion:
There was actually good food on most flights and it was in the contract . We changed biz models and now it's gone. They have to honor the contract but it has less value to us.
We fall even further behind industry in total compensation.
