B737-200 Circling Procedures
Has anyone ever heard of circling a B737-200 at flap 25 instead of the recommended flap 15. Depending on your weight, at flap 25, you can drop from a catagory "D" to a "C" which gives you lower circling minimums.

That is what Higher Power Aviation (737 type) teaches. Reading over the material again, it doesn't say anything about dropping to a Cat "C" though. It states the 737 is a Cat "D" for circling.
I am referencing the HPA 737-200 Sim Training Guide revised in 03/07/2007.

Just to make sure I understand completely. Higher Power Aviaition trains to circle at flap 25? Anywhere that you know where I would be able to get a copy of their training manual online?
As far as the catagory goes isn't that based on the aircraft speed during the circling procedure or is that set by the manufacturer.
A - 90knots
B - 91-121
C - 121-145
D - 145 and above.
Thats from memory they may be off.
So what would make sense to me is that if at Flap 25 you could circle at a speed of 140 then you could use catagoy "c" minimums.

The paper copy I have is from HPA training. They have a website and you can give them a ring. I searched but didn't find it online. This one paragraph basically says: you will shoot an approach into MEM 27 and circle to 18R. B737 is Cat D and that the config is gear down with Flaps 25. Fly 140 kts or computed Vref+winds (whichever is higher).
This guide appears to be a technique guide vice strict procedures...
Hope that helps.
