Default 777 pitch trim control

a friend brought this up, and im a little curious now. anybody know why the 777 has 2 pitch trim levers. heres a picture which shows what im talking about:

All Boeings are like that. You have to trigger both at the same time to get it to work. That way, if you accidently just move your thumb across one of the side or the other, nothing happens. You have to intentionally get both switches at the same time.

newer cessnas with electric trim have the same thing. You must move both (on the yoke) to make it work.

I think alot of commercial and ga types are set up like that. Cessnas, pipers, saabs, embraers. Some of the ones ive seen.

And if you're really, really bored, you can move one side on one yoke and the other side on the other and the trim will work.

What about the actual trim levers on the console (Not the electric trim switch on the yoke, but the actual "Pitch Trim" levers on the center console?

Both of those (alternate trim) levers have to be moved simultaneously too.
