The DHC-8-100 has the same setup: The spoilers are controlled by a flight/taxi switch. When the switch is in the taxi position, the spoilers are closed. When the switch is in the flight position, the spoilers automatically extend at low PLA with WOW, as is the case when taking the runway. As the PLs are advanced, the spoilers retract.

Random for me, because I noticed this as I was leaving CLT last thursday. I don't see too many DHC-8's as I'm not in the airlines, but I was unfortunately contracted out to fly a Seneca that day into CLT. Nothing like wanting to leave there, in that plane, during a push! Sorry guys!!!
