Default 757 Access panels

The other day the AA flight from Dallas pulled in and the access panel where the ground power plugs in was missing.

Why would one get removed? I doubt it flew off in flight.

That's what the CDL is for...to allow for operation with pieces missing. Could be that the door was damaged and had to be removed, or that it came off in flight. Normal ops.

One time a 767 of ours had an access panel on one the engine cowls come off in flight. It operated as per normal for the next leg but had to fly at a reduced airspeed.

Subicpilot is correct. The Configuration Deviation List (CDL) allows for normal flight operations with a component missing. Depending on the item, there may be restrictions applied to the number of flights and/or any in-flight restrictions, if applicable.

Nothing unusual.
