SUKHOI 29 experience?
Hey guys and gals. I am looking at a SU29 in Europe to buy. Does anyone have experience with this type?
I am looking for a kick in the pants acrobatic plane that can do a 400nm x-country flight. This is why I am focusing on this aircraft. I also like what seems a simple design with reliable materials.
I came up through general aviation and flew a Citabria for 100 hours and loved it.

Some friends of mine just sold their's here in the USA, and it's headed back to mother Russia. I have some flight experience with it, and it is most def. a kick in the pants alright, in more ways than one. It will handle all the acro you can take. Great for IAC competitions, my friends flew their's at the advanced and unlimited levels (respectively).
The downside is it is a real SOB to find spare parts for. The one my friends just sold came with a 2nd motor for just that purpose (to keep the one in it running). High cost to keep maintained, but when/if running will take anything you can throw at it.
If you can keep it running, you will fall in love with it. That "if" is a real challenge. Make sure you have a means for getting spare parts before you purchase it. Otherwise, you may spend far more time looking at it than flying it.

Here you go, stick with it until the landing at 1:45, too funny! Looks like he just flew it into a stall at 5 feet up and touched down tailwheel first, about zero ground roll, very nicely done!

I've seen the 29 fly at a few IAC contests, great stuff, but does the prop turn the 'wrong way' on the Russian radials?

Thanks for the feed back on the parts. Im not worried about the engine but yes the little parts for the SU29 maybe a dilemma if I need a titanium or magnesium part. Richard Goode has a supply of parts; enough for a total rebuild if necessary excluding the main components.

Yes the M14P turns counter clock wise. A very reliable and by all standards the perfect engine for acrobatics IMHO.
I am in China at the moment working on a contract for a Chinese Airline. I am living without "youtube" :O
