We are currently operating a Learjet and was looking to trade this in and purchase a different aircraft. Just curious what the average cost of "re-tooling" a flight department would be?

Depends on how much retooling is necessary.
Acquisition costs are likely the biggest expense.
Pilot training
MX training
Hangar considerations (bigger?)
MX tools and equipment if done in house
Ground support equipment
Etc

I think it's Conklin and Decker that will give you the proper estimates. I've made programs for this before, gotta figure your capital cost, what you might be able to sell it for down the road when you intend to do so, engine reserve, hangar, maint, fluids and fuel, insurance, etc, for a relatively small business jet (but not VLJ) it was running around 5K/day for everything, pilots, maint, engine, insurance, etc.

Thanks guys! I guess I misspoke about "re-tooling the flight department." I am familiar with all the necessary aspects to consider, but I have never come across a number/cost of purchasing new MX tools and equipment for reconfiguring your maintenance department. Everything is done in house except for the major inspections. Any ideas?!?
