You know the ones where it was actually work to fly. It kept us pilots from getting fat just sitting up there pushing buttons. Ok maybe not. That thing still looks cool and I would never complain flying it. Heck I might even try to get me one.

Old or new instruments display the same information. Take the 737NG for example; it displays round dial instruments on glass. Same info, same format. Lighter weight and easier to replace. The automation and autopilots are better today, but they had autopilots in the past too. Navigation is much better: easy, safe, and more efficient too. Things have changed, but not that much.

Due to current overwhelming laziness, anybody got a link to a cockpit shot of the 787?

Doesn't all this new technology worry everyone a little bit, that maybe one day there might be a cockpit without any chairs? Any thoughts on this.

Not all 737NG aircraft display round dials...DAL & AMRs are just like the 777, 767-400, 747-400 etc. with the tapes...

I think it rocks. I'm glad they opted for a HUD like on the BBJ. Looks like a vast improvement over the HUD we have in the -17.

I'm sure the next step to the 787 or G550 type cockpits is the 1 pilot cockpits. "We have the technology"

Oh please no! That'll be the day I give up the idea of aviation as a career for good! It's bad enough that they got rid of the flight engineer. A one man flight crew would never work. How fuggin boring would that be?!? Could you imagine a trans atlantic by yourself? Hell, even Miami to Jacksonville would be boring too. I don't think the environmental psychologists would push the one man crew idea to far forward. The job would get lonely, depressing and very stressful.

Good ole days.....You're lucky you're not in the AF, I work the panel on a 707 with a flying saucer on it. You know what I say about all the glass? I don't like it because it ruins my job security. Luckily the Air Force doesn't have any money to buy new planes, so I get to keep my job a little longer
