Default Does Skywest have auto land?

Hi all.

1/8th mile visibility / RVR 1,200-1,600 at LAX this morning. Wx didn't seem to be slowing down any of the Skywest arrivals. I suppose they have the 50 ft lower dispensation that CAT II provides.

Would 1,000 RVR or less cause diversions?

Thoughts appreciated!

Cat II Op Specs can allow a carrier to land with RVR1200.

Not sure what their mins are there, but if they had the RVR it wouldn't be an issue. Just delays due to approaches and slower taxi times.

The CRJ fleet is CATII, no autoland.

Ha! No! We have a GNS but we cannot do RNAV departures or GPS approaches. I know it sucks. Apparently we had the capability, but the FAA said no.

Yes we have autoland in the EMB120, I use it pretty much for every landing I can. For some reason though, it touches down with a teeth-shattering impact, and I always seem to be writing up problems with the tires or struts after we taxi in to the gate. Still trying to figure out what the autoland's problem is.....

Haha, did one of those in the sim by accident.

Take it down to about 20-30 feet with the autopilot on, pull it back to flight idle and hit the go around button. Sweet
